I adore this game.

I know what your thinking “5 stars????” Hear me out. This is the biggest crossover possibly ever and it’s super great. The story is good, the gameplay is fun, the cast of characters is just mind blowing, it’s charming, it looks nice, it’s everything I want in a game.

I never considered the "toy'n'game" premise as more than just a racket. Of the 3 to pick from Lego Dimensions had my attention the most. The list of favored franchises and the fact the toys are real Legos, not just overpriced statuettes. After they released an A-Team pack I was sold. Along with that one I purchased a few others, Dr. Who, Simpsons, Scooby-Doo, ect. And Lego/WB did their research. These aren't just hollow product placements, each franchises' hub world is detailed with references to the property and there's a real sense the development team is just as big a fan of these properties as the players.
The main story is on par for a Lego kid's game, but the Dr. Who level was kinda spooky (those darn angels!). You can collect most the extras without springing for all the packs, but to collect all the minikits you'll need all the packs. So for a completionist this game is still a racket.

My one suggestion for a good update. Give us a chance to buy some secondary characters in-game with studs. Like with Mr. T you get the whole A-Team available to play, do that for characters that aren't strong enough to support an actual toy pack like the Doctor's companions, the other original Ghostbusters, or the rest of the Simpsons family.
