Final Fantasy IX is the ninth main installment in the FF series. The title is a return to the series's roots, with gameplay features and references to the past games featuring throughout, as well as a medieval fantasy setting and cartoonish art style as a break from the sci-fi slant style of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII.

I used to think FFIX was the best FF for me during my childhood, but I'm not so sure now. The gameplay is enjoyable, but it lacks that great storytelling most FF games have. The plot wasn't so clear until you get near the ending.

The character development here is great tho. Unlike the previous FF games before it, usually the game only focuses on the main protagonist. But in FFIX, you get to know almost all your characters' personality.

If I remember correctly I should be in the Disc 3 part of the game already. I'm not sure if I'm still playing to amuse myself or just playing for the sake of finishing the game (because I paid for it in the app store). Well, I did want to play this again because it's my favorite FF from my …

Well, I did want to play this again because it's my favorite FF from my childhood.

But I don't remember having so much problems battling random monsters. Hmm. I must be doing something wrong this time.

Argh. I don't remember having problems buying equipment before. Why do I keep ending up short on gil for a whole equipment upgrade for the party...

Well this is frustrating. Every time I'm going to shop for items/equipment, I keep getting short on gil. They are just so expensive!

I was only a kid when I first played this, I only played for enjoyment. Now I'm realizing its story and content and it's just so intriguing. There's really so many things to love about FFIX and I wonder why some YouTubers don't recognize this as one of the top FF games out there. Hmm.

I first played this on my PS1. Then I saw it available on Mobile! Nostalgia is real on this one. I still believe this is the best Final Fantasy game ever. :D

I'm not sure if it's the best (for me) of the franchise, but I'm pretty sure that it is one of the most beautiful games I ever played. I loved the characters and the story too, but the art is awesome.

Well, I caved in on Steam's Final Fantasy sale and bought a couple of them basically at random. All forum threads or people I've asked give completely different advice on which one to start with or where to begin or which is the best of the series. Everyone seems pretty divided on it all. Although everyone seems to agree that each game stands alone, so I don't have to start at FF1. These are the ones I ended up with:

I was going to get Final Fantasy "Lightning Returns" too because that looked cool, but I was confused about it, and it looks like that game is divided into 3 games? So I gave up on that idea. Also I'll be picking up FFXV for my PS4 soon. If anyone reads this, do you think I made a wise selection? :D

Breezed through it, then found out that now I have to complete the Desert Palace with Dagger, Eiko, Quina and Vivi... Eiko and Dagger are pretty much useless except for healing, cause I can't use the summons cause they take so goddamn long! Even the normal battles take so long with Quina/Vivi doing a maximum of 1000 damage per turn, when for example Zidane could easily deal 4000 damage in one turn if he also gets a counter. So yeah, a lot of grinding ahead!
