I love the music in the pixel remaster. I'm not usually that picky about music in games and almost always leave it off for phone games, but I'm pumped everytime I get to hear a new theme in this one.

Feel like I'm progressing faster than last time I played as I'm about 2 hours in and already in the marsh cave.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster impressions.

  • The pixel art looks really good.
  • The music is gorgeous
  • Nice quality of life features
  • The original font is really bad, but can be solved easily.
  • Too bad is not a pixelated font
  • Screen Tearing in fullscreen, which i can't seem to solve with the AMD software by enabling vsync

I’m giving my first quick impressions of the pixel remake of the first final fantasy since @Ryker did it for III and inspired me.

I’m giving my first quick impressions of the pixel remake of the first final fantasy since @Ryker did it for III and inspired me.

I don’t mind the weird skinny font on my TV. I might go in and do the fix I’ve seen on the internet, but I don’t care all that much. The music is awesome. They have made the beginning way quicker. You don’t miss on every other attack, you start with a lot more Gil so you don’t have to go grind for 20 minutes just to buy spells and armor. You level up much faster through the first few levels at least. There’s a cool mini map, and there’s autobattling. Basically there’s a ton of quality of life improvements here, but it still feels like the original game. I’m a fan so far (25 minutes).

Side note, I handed the controller to my 4 year old so he could do some grinding for me. First thing he asked was why he couldn’t jump. I guess that means I’ve failed as a parent somehow :)

The one that started it all! I played the original NES version and actually finished the Playstation version. I liked the epic feel of the quest even if the plot waited until the very end to actually go in a unique direction. For the time though, this is a great RPG and you can see why it started something special.

Final Fantasy deadass came with a walkthrough in the manual and that's amazing. It makes me feel like I'm not cheating if I look up what to do next. So far I'm enjoying myself, it's very by-the-book and no-frills old school JRPG, not counting the enhanced graphics, autotargeting next enemy, and replacing the Vancian system with MP. So far I'm enjoying myself, it's very by-the-book and no-frills old school JRPG, not counting the enhanced graphics, autotargeting next enemy, and replacing the Vancian system with MP. Though the speed up feature of the emulator I'm using DEFINITELY HELPS. The game is a massive grind for money in some places, and I usually end up overleveled for most dungeons. Not for the crocodiles though. Rivers are the most dangerous place in the overworld, I'm pretty sure.

I'm playing the PSP version because it's got the purdiest gafficks. I know that I really should play the PS1 or OG version because it had that unique Vancian style casting and the GBA and PSP versions lost a lot of the difficulty because of it. I was debating it, but then I said nah because I get enough of that anyway playing Pathfinder. Also not auto targeting the next enemy would drive me mad.
