Skip this one unless you’re REALLY invested in seeing what Yuna as a selfish asshole is like.
Not awful, but not good. The story was light on content, the side missions felt half-hearted, the monsters and locations were reused from FFX without much additional to make them feel fresh. The good ending is locked behind doing enough of the side content. Wouldn't recommend unless you are really dying for additional FFX related content and have nothing better to play.
Where to begin. The music, the combat, the story... Everything is downgraded so far and it appears you need a guide to get the true ending. My goodness, I just, can't. I can say anything I like about Final Fantasy X but X-2 massacred what would have been a perfect ending. And it's also too damned easy.
It's a decent game, a competent Final Fantasy game, but a horrible Final Fantasy X sequel. Just don't start on it, unless you want a game where even the enemies are ashamed of. 4/10.
Going from turn based to ATB between this and FFX did give my brain a bit of the nope factor but that was cancelled out by the unexpected campness and slay that was the opening scene alone!
While I didn't vibe with the ATB system (and that's not specific to this game for me) I did eventually start to get the hang of it, even if not using combos to their fullest in interests of not breaking my brain! The story is fun, the characters amused me, a serious FF game this is not but a good one nonetheless!
EDIT 2026 Actually got back to this again and played for a good few hours more, but eventually ran into being way too underleveled to manage a boss, losing hours in the process of reloading my file... Maybe I'll get back to this in a couple of years again.

Really tried my best to once and for all finish this game, but I realize it's gonna take me years to do it. I'm 4 hours in and already stuck. I haven't leveled up my guys, I suck, I have no strats. Honestly, I vividly remember getting pretty far into this game as a kid...
But as a kid I had more time, and would happily grind away. These days that's not the same case. I do kind of want to see where it goes. For FFX enjoyers it's simply a must play. It's incredibly nostalgic to replay. The music bops. The combat is fun, I enjoy the dresspheres and the level up system. It's just not for me right now, maybe at some point in the future it will be, but not right now.
Final Fantasy X-2 is a frustrating slog that is only partially saved by the combat. Each chapter feels like a bullet-point checklist, where you have to pick a different area from a list and find missions to complete. Unfortunately, most of these missions are fetch quests or poorly designed mini-games. The combat has the potential to be good, but it is hindered by the slow dress-changing mechanic. Furthermore, the combat becomes unbalanced later on when you level up Yuna's special dress sphere, making her invincible in battles. This strategy makes the final boss trivial. All of this is done for a story that awkwardly forces Yuna to sing and dance, and for the antagonist to resemble Tidus.
I cannot recommend this game, but it is fascinating and worth playing to experience the peculiar sequel to one of the best Final Fantasy games.
This game has a very playful j-pop vibe and colorful aesthetics in comparison to its predecessor, which I did not mind at all. What really impressed me was the character designs with all the different battle styles. It was a cool combat system in the overall final fantasy series, I did not 100% love it, but it was sure fun to mix and match. Outside of battle, the game was extremely limited, which was a huge negative. Everything felt small and like you were revisiting the same locations you know from the original, a shame. Storywise I liked the three protagonists enough to stay sort of invested. Yuna especially had a lot of time to shine and show off, the other two could have used more character development, but it is what it is. All in all, this is definitely a cheesy action game with cool-looking characters and a solid battle system, but there is not much more to it other than that.

Voto: 8.5/10
I played about 2 hours in and was not feeling it. Everything feels kind of useless because the main bad guy is gone so if you were playing this game in hopes that it would be similar to FFX you will be disappointed. I feel like this particular game was made to be a dress up game and yes it was cute, but I don't really care for that. The monster finding thing was unnecessarily complicated and I was also not a fan of the battle system either in which all I did was spam the attack button to win. The only redeeming things about this game was that you got to see what happened to tidus and yuna (which I ended up watching on YT), Yuna really developed a personality, and the graphics were really nice. Other than that it was a flop for me, if it wasn't already included with FFX I would have returned it or not purchased it.
This game suffers from the "Wind Waker Effect" - people are too eager to judge the game based on its appearance. This game has one of the best battle systems in any Final Fantasy game and my second favorite instance of the job system. The main plotline doesn't have as many twists and turns as its predecessor, but the optional side quests show some very well done character development. While the main plotline is a bit lackluster, each character's story is explored in great depth - and left for you to choose whether its worth discovering or not.
Yeah, this is where the Final Fantasy series really started to lose its luster for me. This is honestly one of the most disappointing gaming experiences I can recall. As a story followup to X, this literally adds nothing. It's short enough to feel like an expansion, not a full fledged sequel, especially since it reuses many entire areas and enemies from the original. I can respect the changes to the battle system and the J-Pop vibe is pretty fun in retrospect but man oh man, this one bummed me out.
Kill me but this wasn't too terrible haha. So what if it cheapened everything that came before it? It was stupidly fun and the battle system was actually great.
I think I'm dropping this for now. I finished Chapter 1 and just don't really care for the plot so far. Also exploration is pretty underwhelming when the areas are almost all the same maps I just explored in the last game. The dialogue is pretty fun but that and the combat isn't enough to draw me in. I have too many other long games to get to.
My goal was to play through the main Final Fantasy entries so I don't feel too bad dropping this, but I do still a little bit. If I feel guilty enough maybe I'll come back to it eventually, lol.
Wow, what an opening. No idea what's going on. This game has some splainin' to do. Also I'm a bit sad we're already back to the ATB system. I really hoped the sequel at least would stick with the first game's combat more or less.

just wondering, is it pronounced extu or tentu just wondering cuz both sound ridiculous
Beat FFX-2: The Last Mission and wish I could have that time back. If only there were a separate listing for it on Grouvee. Even if you liked either FFX or FFX2, I wouldn't recommend checking out The Last Mission. I really hope other mystery dungeon games aren't like this one.
I actually enjoyed this more than FFX. It’ll probably drive you insane if you’re a completionist going in blind, but it’s fun if you just play casually.
Still really early on in the game, but I’m enjoying it so far. I could see why people would hate it if they really liked the first one though.
I’m now in chapter 3. I’m mostly liking combat and how new places are not quite as linear as X. I thought the monkey matching bit was cute and it’s funny how Yuna carries them around, but man the stuff between this and X is just so needlessly tedious. Why twelve pairs of monkeys, why not four? It’s so much filler for no good reason, really. The two big “puzzles” in Bevelle made me want to punch something. And at one point I lost a bit of progress where a spiky wall slowly comes at you and you can easily avoid it, but apparently you have to touch it to proceed. So I had to reset. That’s stupid. It’s also odd how after
Jumping into this right after beating Final Fantasy X is a bit much since they re-use all the same assets, same monsters but with different names/stats, same character models, same map and locations, etc. The job system is intriguing, it is neat how you can swap jobs mid-battle but only to adjacent ones on a special sphere grid, and I'm enjoying the lighthearted/goofy tone they are setting overall.
I'm going to shelve this one for a bit to play when I'm less burnt out on everything Spira.
Okay, this is insane. Is it just me or is this game missing a beginning? Am I supposed to know who Paine is, or why Rikku has dreads, or why I can see Yuna's ass? Why does Eternal Calm exist if it doesn't bridge the game between X and this game at all? Weird.
The plot is practically non-existent, but the gameplay is so fun that it almost doesn't matter. Forget trying to get 100% as it's too stressful. It was unheard of back when this came out to have a direct sequel to an FF game. I like this one, but I perfectly understand anyone who doesn't.
''This game was 70% cringe 30% gotta get Tidus and Yuna reunited no matter what.''
There are things about this game I love and things I hate. I thought that the main story was beautiful, and I loved the dressphere system. Mostly, I just didn't like the disjointed way of playing through the game. And all the mini-games... well, just the shooting one, actually. I was trying so hard to get 100% the first time through, and that mini-game was the worst for me.
