Rise of the Zilart is the first expansion pack in Final Fantasy XI and was only officially released in Japan since Final Fantasy XI itself had not been released for other regions.

Well, the first expansion storyline finished. RotZ had a more robust story than the original city missions. I enjoyed it because this expansion built on the original storyline and expanded on the origins of the Shadowlord. Well, the first expansion storyline finished. RotZ had a more robust story than the original city missions. I enjoyed it because this expansion built on the original storyline and expanded on the origins of the Shadowlord. I also loved all the new, unique locations and new monster types that were created for this expansion, considering many of the original mob types were just reused skins with new names and stats. It seems like they took more care to add monster diversity to the game to provide fresh content for players. Next up, Chains of Promathia.
