The Dark Souls Trilogy Box will include a copy of Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition (the Japanese release that includes Dark Souls 3 and its downloadable content). Soundtrack CDs for each of those games are included, as is an item encyclopedia for each game. The box set also includes 10 art sheets and a special frame. One of the included bookends is sculpted to look like a Dark Souls bonfire, and the other a knight.

Despite pouring many hundreds of hours into Dark Souls I've never unlocked all of the achievements (I think I have 2 left). The reason for this is due to the infamous "Knight's Honor" achievement. It requires to you collect every rare weapon in the game, and that's a lot of weapons. Plus, the achievement is bugged so you need them all on one save file, which means completing more than 2 consecutive games (the base game, NG+, NG++) to get all the drops and to forge with boss souls multiple times. Perhaps it's finally time that I embarked on this fool's errand. D:

Dark Souls: The Board Game is a grueling slog

Excerpt:

Dark Souls: The Board Game was a huge surprise. Few outside of England had ever heard of its developers, Steamforged Games, a company that’s been quietly growing over the last few years. Fewer still expected the Kickstarter to do as well as it did, earning more than $5.4 million to become one of the top 20 most-funded projects of all time.

The team executed well, and have met their promised delivery date. Inside the box is a final product that is identical to what was originally pitched to backers.

Trouble is, it’s just not a lot of fun.

Talking with the team at Gen Con last year, I was struck by the audacity of the project. Steamforged wasn’t adapting the classic video game series for tabletop, they were recreating it. All the darkness, all the inscrutable lore and every inch of the nearly exponential difficulty curve the Dark Souls franchise is famous for was to be included. And, at the end of the day, I’m afraid that’s just not a very good recipe for a board game.

I FINALLY beat Kalameet with my lvl1 character, after innumerable attempts. It was part of my lvl1 all bosses attempt. I was stuck at Kalameet for months, and even gave up at some point, only to pick it up again over the last couple days. Lobosjr gave me some handy tips, without which I probably never would have beaten him. It's a shame I didn't record this magical event, I didn't expect to beat him so I didn't bother with screen capture! I got a screenshot though of the glorious moment. T'was one of the most difficult endurance boss fights I've ever experienced.. most of Kalameet's attacks would one-shot me, and my little club was chipping away that HP bar so slowly.

Must say, this looks pretty impressive at 2560 x 1440 (which is exactly 1/2 the resolution of my 5K iMac, so scales very nicely).

Attempting to play this "blind", ie avoiding looking up any wiki's, hints, tips etc, for my first play through, as everyone says your first play through of DS is an experience you only get once! Avoid all spoilers etc.

(...or am I just making things unnecessarily difficult for myself?!?)
