Pretty brutal that wild dogs can eat your chickens (even if this is never actually shown).

I think I've decided to watch a longplay of this game. The amount of bugs and time constraints is painting this as a stressful experience full of micromanaging. I thought maybe I'd be fine with a guide but reading a great one from GameFAQs is leading me to believe it's going to be more stress than fun.

enter image description here Game got kinda of repetitive, I've been rushing through it because I have almost everything I need for the best ending. It's been a nostalgic ride though, first year was actually very fun, but there's nothing relevant to do in the second one to be honest.

enter image description here Finished my first year, I did most stuff, got all power berries, 12 cows, married... I am worried the game will get really boring from now on, it's been nice revisiting the game tho, no wonder I loved it when I was a kid.

Tried to play this. I like how much it resembles A Link to the Past, but there is a lack of anything really interesting to do. What killed the game for me was having to pick up one vegetable at a time and run it over to the shipping bin, over and over and over. Can something be more mind numbingly tedious than that? Doubt I will play any more, but will leave it there just in case I find myself with nothing better to do.

Wrapped up Summer pretty cleanly. There was one last hurricane but the timing was great, as I was able to ship one last harvest before it hit and the damage to my grass wasn't too substantial. Wrapped up Summer pretty cleanly. There was one last hurricane but the timing was great, as I was able to ship one last harvest before it hit and the damage to my grass wasn't too substantial. I'll probably be spending all of Fall expanding my pasture, actually, as I'd really rather not be buying feed over the Winter if I can avoid it.

The goal for the month is get a couple cows for Winter income with enough fodder to feed them and 6+ chickens for the whole season, as well as get my second house expansion. The chickens guarantee 9000g so it shouldn't be too bad.

This game is moving at a very quick pace, which makes sense considering it was meant to be beat, then end, as opposed to future games which just keep going on forever. It's actually a nice change and I'm having fun with it.

It's actually really weird for me to be playing this game with an SNES controller! It's actually really weird for me to be playing this game with an SNES controller! The first and last time I played Harvest Moon was back in the ZSNES days of the late 90's on a crappy laptop keyboard. Of course that didn't stop me from beating the game and getting entirely addicted to the franchise from that point forward!

I had some preconceived notions as to what exactly I wasn't going to like about this game, coming back to the original after years of incremental improvements. To my surprise, the 2-Tool system really doesn't bother me at all! What did throw me off was just how fast the days go in this game, which makes harvest time especially challenging.

I remember, back then, being frustrating from not having a stamina bar. It's funny now that I have no trouble tracking my character's stamina, in fact it's pretty obvious how the game works in that regard. All in all I've enjoyed my first day with the game.
