I thought I wasn't going to play a single second more of this game but lately nothing numbs the brain like it. I can go around this toy Greece mechanically looting and killing while listening to a podcast and not think about anything for like 2 hours straight.

I had to wipe PC and lost 27 hour save and I just don't know if I can do it again. This game drags on enough as it is ;-;

Wait, Kassandra's father says that he and her mother were "part of a family" and they had to "continue the bloodline"? I have to admit that I didn't expect the eugenic inbreeding 5th act twist.

This game is a masterpiece! I love Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman history, so it was a delight for my eyes to see all the buildings, the atmosphere, the spoken Greek, the ship's songs, etc. The story is very interesting and the presence of some ancient people is an amazing thing too (I have played this game after reading the books of Herodotus). The Battle of Thermopylae was a great event and it was very delightful to see it being explored by the plot.

The open world trying to recreate part of Hellas was very rich, beautiful, colorful and full of life. The world is so beautiful that many times I felt that desire just to stop e observe the nature, for the good feeling it was bringing to me. The sea is fantastic! One can dive and see even fish and other wonders underwater. There are some shipwrecks undersea and one can find treasures and other contents.

You can really tell that some of the voice actors didn't get the same training regarding the pronunciation of names and places, huh?

Every time someone talks about "The Cult" I think that someone wrote that as a placeholder and then they forgot to change it.

  • The only way to enjoy it is to play as a videogame character and not an actual person. Just go and kill everyone and steal everything just because the game gives you a checklist. If you try to find any sort of sense of motivations into what you do, you'll fail and lose all the fun

  • Stealth absolutely sucks. For a game called "assassin's creed" assassination is as barebones as it can be. You can't really distract guards or move it around and they mostly stay still so you don't even get to memorise patrol patterns. And even if some NPC explicitly tells you to be sneaky, you don't actually need to. Essentially this is Brawler's Creed and the sooner you get that, the sooner you can start having fun and not re-loading your save ever time the finnicky "assassinate" prompt disappears just as you try to press it.

I think I'm missing something important about either the setting or Kassandra. There's all these systems to reduce a nation's power and kill their leader; you then get to participate in an "epic" battle. What I don't understand is why would Kassandra do that besides being the main character of an Ubisoft game. Like what's the motivation? Also, why would …

What I don't understand is why would Kassandra do that besides being the main character of an Ubisoft game. Like what's the motivation? Also, why would Kassandra align with Athens or Sparta? (why would I, for that matter?) At first it seemed like she had some sort of allegiance with Sparta but then she just work for whoever?

Oh, boy, so I've got to the moment in which I get to play some woman and watch her talk with other women about shit that I don't understand nor care about. Also, they all speak regular American English but still pronounce names in Greek, I literally cannot pay attention to anything but that.

Also, should I go back to jumping over rooftops and sailing the Greek seas or stay here and read a thousand emails?

This fight might've single handedly made me want to quit this game even without the telekinetic boars that kill you without even touching you.

A FUCKING PROFESSIONAL DESIGNED THAT HITBOX.

Some feelings so far:

  • Gorgeous world.

  • Being able to have an "aesthetic" equipment and a "stats" equipment is brilliant; more games need to do this.

  • The fact that when you equip a new piece of equipment it overrides your aesthetic equipment is painfully dumb.

  • No nonsense magically-spawning horse is great. Much more useful than those silly BOTW quadrupeds.

  • The horse …

  • The horse handles too well. I still think that the best horse I experienced in a game was Shadow of the Colossus'.

Well, now that I have a laptop than can run the game, and after the expected disappointment that was Saints Row, I decided to give this a try.

So far it feels pretty neat. The world feels alive, Cassandra has a personality and gameplay is smooth.

i'll probably never forgive ubisoft for making me romance daphnae, giving me the "land of sapphic love" just to then making me choose between killing her or never seeing her again that's just homophobic

Really a great game, but I am finding too many dialogues blunt and "disconnected". When you make the last dialogue choice when first talking to the wolf, Kassandra, who had been rather composed until then, just goes nuts. The change does not feel natural to me, at all - note I am not referring to her feelings, but to the aforementioned transition.

Further, while I recognize that describing a dialogue choice with just a couple of words can only be difficult, this game seems to me to have less success at it than other games.
