It took a decent chunk of my Sunday to download an absurd 100GB (!) of data. Then, after an entire morning trying to customize the settings to help my 5 year old PC run this game, I've finally started my Odyssey. It's probably going to take me the rest of the year to be done with it. I'm scared, but also excited. Hope it's as good as Origins.

Finished Legacy of the Blade. There's something to be said how spending 100 hours with Kassandra makes me actually feel like her Odyssey and Legacy are meaningful. Maybe it's just Stockholm Syndrome.

I'm currently playing through the DLC, Legacy of the Blade. Arguably a better story that the main game.

there's a lot to rightfully criticize here but I honestly enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. maybe the platonic ideal of a 7/10 game

I loved it.

Don't listen the haters. Game provides at least 80+ hours of gameplay.

"Oh boo hoo this is not an assassin game anymore boo hooo, it lost core mechanics, its soul bla bla."

This is by far the most shallow criticism i've ever heard. It's been 13 years, changes happen. Get over it.

Story is okay. DLCs are great. Game allows you to shape your own play style. I used the assassin tree, and stick to it. Played on hard and on the explorer mode. And it made it more challenging, funnier. Graphics, wow. Sound, main theme is awesome. Tons of historical characters. Their side missions. Brilliant.

Assassin's Creed series was never meant to be an STEALTH GAME. It's a game that uses stealth elements and parkour together. Also it's and always been an action game. I bet guys complaining about losing so called stealth, never played a real hard stealth game before. First games are all about one shotting enemies, no real challenge. This game brings the challenge. You can't now fight with 10+ guys anymore, even if you're on the Warrior Skill Tree. You need to use tactics, evading, parrying, hiding etc.

BUT. WHY 4 STARS. GOD DAMN BUGISOFT. GAME CRASHED 78 RANDOM TIMES. F... SAKE !!!!

Only criticism i agree is that yes! some games are in this series so unnecessary. Money hungy developers...

So I shelved Borderlands 3 after hitting max level. I did manage to farm some decent mayhem gear but didn't want to sink too much time into it with so many other games in my backlog. Decided to start Assassins Creed Odyssey. The first Assassins Creed was one of the first games I played on PS3. I can remember being blown away by the graphics. Initially I really enjoyed the game but lost interest due to the repetitiveness. When Assassins Creed II came out I checked it out and enjoyed it much more. However my save data became corrupted and I didn't want to have to replay the first 6-7 hours to catch myself back up. I didn't touch another Assassin's Creed game until Origins came out. I managed to stick with it and it became the first Assassins Creed game I beat. As a fan of RPG's I appreciated the addition of more elements from that genre. I'm about 10 hours into Odyssey and am thoroughly enjoying it. I started as Kassandra and am focusing on the Assassin skill tree while picking up a few from the Hunter line. Looking forward to where the journey takes me.

Episode 4 completed. Level 20. 32% main progression complete.

Certainly seems like most Ubisoft games.. Cookie-cutter with minimal effort. Combat IS fun though. Quests are mostly boring tripe with no real explanation of why you're meant to do something. Origins remains one of my favourites in recent years; this doesn't compare. I intend to see the main quest line through …

Working through Episode 3. Gone from level 10 to level 13 in around 3 hrs. Exploring mostly and am already getting a little tired of clearing out the camps in the same method. Sneak in, whistle a bit to get one guard's attention, kill and rinse and repeat.

I'm enjoying my time with this game, I've put in around 40 hours, explored the whole map, and doing some side-questing, but damn if this sloppiness of this game isn't a perfect example of exactly why they had to take that break between Syndicate and Origins.

Game completed with all achievements on Xbox One.

This took a while, the Game is great, loved the rpg elements, but theres just too much content! When the dlc arrived I was just skipping most of the dialogue to get It over with.

I read they are making Valhalla smaller due to players feedback

While playing Origins I had some doubts whether RPG fits Assassin's Creed or not, this game confirms that it doesn't. Assassin's Creed has never been an RPG game, it was never about improving your character by bumping up some numbers and most importsntly, it was a sires of games where the story was told straight forward, without any shortcuts or any side missions in between. Leveling system is terrible in both games and should've never been a part of this franchisr in any game to begin with. The game is unnecessarily long right because of this stupid levelinf system, tons of side missions and forgetablre characters and substance to them. Despite the potential, even the 3 different main storylines were just horendous which should've never been divided in the first place, it should've been just like in older games where everything was connected. The story gap from Origins and Odyssey just made me pissed, even though it gave me some hope of franchise coming back I was severely disappointed in the end, to the point where I don't think the games are gonna vet any better despite Ubisoft trying to do thing differently and drop the franchise entirely. Overall, huge disappointment despite me not having any huge expextations at all.
