If the Fate of Atlantis DLC is AC Odyssey’s highest point, then the Legacy of the First Blade is certainly its lowest. Episode 3: Bloodline presents me with the first time I actively want to stop playing this game. I might drop the rest of this DLC and just play a new game+

God damn do I love the Judgement of Atlantis.
God damn do I love the Judgement of Atlantis.
Those two games would probably keep me busy for several years, at the rate I've been playing Odyssey.

According to Grouvee, I started playing this early February this year. That blows my mind, because I am still playing it. This is the longest I think I have ever played a single-player campaign game. According to Grouvee, I started playing this early February this year. That blows my mind, because I am still playing it. This is the longest I think I have ever played a single-player campaign game. I know that it's partially because I am taking it slow (and because Switch games continually demand my time), but it's also because I think this might be my favourite AC since AC III. I love Kassandra. I love the Greek world, and I love the sheer amount of Precursor content in this game. Origins gave us a taste with the Isu temple in the dessert, and some of the DLC content, but Odyssey finally returns the Isu as a significant aspect of the game narrative. There are moments in this game that produce in me an awe and excitement that rival what I felt when decoding of the glyphs in AC II that led to the revelation of The Truth. And that is without having experienced The Fate of Atlantis. I am stoked for that DLC.
While Ubisoft games always have their flaws, especially flaws related to the enormity of a game like this, I have to say I am thrilled to death with Odyssey.

What an amazing game. Kassandra is my one true love. I will never again love another. Cough.

The only bad things is the parkour and how ubisoft use recycle models of characters all the time, even for important characters

For all it was made out to be at launch, levelling really isn't slow in this game. I can't imagine paying for double XP, I'd hit level cap far too early based on my progress. This game is so big you could just spend most of your time on one island doing daily quests and eventually hit level cap.

I kind of want Ubisoft to dial it back a bit. I'm starting to feel the open world fatigue I had when playing Unity. Odyssey is a thousand times better than Unity (I mean anything is better than Arno) but I am frequently in a position of skipping content because there's just too much of it in this game. Origin was more manageable. It was easier to complete all the quests in a region. But now there are endlessly renewing quests, all forts and garrisons can be repeated indefinitely, and I swear to god there is no end to the number of mercenaries in this game. They must be randomly generated. I've cleared out whole mercenary tiers and there always seem to be more, even in the same tier. Although, the endless supply of mercenaries is great because some of them have sweet gear and I do love destroying one after another after another. They are much easier than they were in Origins. I think Ubi softened them up a bit because they really aren't a challenge, while some in Origins felt like mini bosses. I like the endless supply of loot, but I miss the higher challenge.

My target was obviously primed to defend himself instead of opting for discussion, so I figured I'd merely knock him out and then have our little conversation. Of course, this being an AC game where nothing ever works quite the way Ubisoft planned, another mercenary interrupted the process and began to fight my target instead. Naturally he killed my target, and I then killed him. So much for diplomacy.
