This game is so LONG!!! It feels like we've been playing it for hundreds of hours by now and we aren't even through the main plot yet.

Finally marked this as beaten with main + extras, but I consider all the three main storylines cleared to be truly beaten, hence why it took so long (but there was about a 8 hour difference between clearing the "main" storyline about your family and then clearing the cult/isu storylines.)

I played every single Assassins creed game from 1 to syndicate, and i loved them soooo much(since i was homeschooled my mom even let me play them as a kind of visual history helper. there is nothing more awesome than learning history while playing assassins creed and meeting the people your learning about, its like you meet Thommas Edison and your like, I KNOW THIS GUY!). But then came Origins, and it felt like the templars themselves had taken over the series, and ruined it. The RPG elements felt so out of place, the unfairness of the levels werent even funny, even the stealth just wasnt right at all, it all came together as one frightening video game abomination (in my opinion). But while Origins just felt like some glorified prototype, Odyssey brought the original Assassins creed feel and mixed it with the "new age" gameplay of origins.... sorta. While the leveling from origins is still a problem (there is nothing more frustrating than destroying like 20 soldiers who are your level, having a blast, than a bounty hunter comes along thats two levels above you and proceeds to wreck your entire day) Odyssey offsets that by making it pretty easy to level up. Where Origins stealth just felt wrong, Odyssey did a pretty ok job at bringing back the true Assassins feel, the stealth almost kind of reminded me of AC2, dont know why. The Ship combat is actually really good, I dont think im even halfway through the game so I could be completly wrong about this, but the lack of enemy ships is kinda frustrating, i mean, i am a god on the water, my ship is like poseidons fist itself, but there's only tiny merchant ships and the occasional bounty hunter ship to contend with (BTW, a good way to deal with the bounty hunters is on the water, you dont even have to board their ship, just cleave it in half and bam. No more bounty hunter) and while theres more pros of this game (its a fun game, it really is), I have to talk about the Cons. This game is truly rage inducing, combat is horrible, you can fight how you want against the common foot soldiers, but the only way to even have a prayer against a bounter hunter its just parry attack, parry attack, parry attack, parry attack, DODGE!, parry attack, and when theres more than one bounty hunter? hah, talk about impossible odds. And not only that, but the bounty hunter system itself is inherently flawed, oh one bounty hunter thats 2 levels below you decides to pick a fight? no problem, but wait, whats that? 4 more bounty hunters that are 3 levels above you coming (teleporting from nowhere is more like it) because they heard the commotion? prepare to prostate thyself before your new overlords who will have no mercy on you. Overall while im not that far into the game (im not sure how far i am, theres still like 70 percent of the islands left to explore) Im truly enjoying the experience, its hard, but not dark souls hard, not to mention theres enough content to keep me satisfied for awhile. I will be sure to keep all of Grouvee updated the farther down the Greek Rabbit hole i go.

I just drowned about a thousand feet in the air over the Acrocorinth. There may be a glitch of some sort at work.

To the one-star reviews. Do you really think the game is that bad? Or are you maybe a little blinded by your hate for big companies. One star implies that the game barely functions. From what I've seen the game works fine, just with some design choices you don't agree with. Honestly curious.

So Herodotus is psychic now? Makes sense.
Why didn't he write any of this stuff down?

I'm glad they kept the hidden shadow organization out of the plot for so long. Having mercenaries chase you as well really helped fill the gap. If the Templars acted more like these crazy cultists I'd have a lot fewer problems with them.

I find it very interesting how far this game is distancing itself from its predecessors. Assassinating is pretty much sidelined in favor of straight out brawls. The Witcher elements they've added (serious and unpredictable consequences for each decision down the road, investigations, the option to find locations without aid of tracking points, etc) work better than they should. Given the way these games work I expect the optional features in this game (the locating of quests by verbal descriptions rather than waypoints) will be mandatory by the next game. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Of all the legacy elements from earlier games, what idiot thought den defence from Revelations was a good choice to bring back?

"The best strategy for defeating an enemy is to reduce their health to zero while keeping yours above zero."
Good advice.
