The title blends historical settings with narrative elements tied to the franchise’s established lore. The story unfolds in a thriving Baghdad at the height of its cultural and scientific influence, where Basim, a young orphan shaped by loss, struggles to survive through street theft. Haunted by disturbing visions and driven by a need for answers, he lashes out violently, forcing him to flee the city. I'm having so much fun with this game so far. The stealth is amazing. The game is even better in Arabic

It looks as if Mirage is exactly what I feared it would be - a spin off from the RPG style AC games instead of a return to the old formula. I think I heard that this game was even designed to be a DLC for valhalla but became a fully fledged game 1 month into development.

The combat, UI, movement, and almost fantasy elements, are reminding me too much of the RPG titles for my liking. The Parkour is effective but reviewers are saying it is no where near as complex or elegant as the older AC titles. It'll be a hard pass for me unfortunately

Only just caught a glimpse of the gameplay walkthrough for mirage and I'm not sure what to think. On one hand we have a supposed return to the original AC, and on the other we see familiar hallmarks of the newer RPG games.

If this turns out to be a mesh between the two I'm not sure how I'll feel about it. I feel as if fans are firmly in their camps and aren't looking for a crossover. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

Some things that stood out to me and reminded me of the newer games in particular are things such as the parkour and UI. The parkour looks oddly stiff, almost as if he has lead weights in his pockets as he takes a moment to pause ever so slightly between jumps - where's the parkour flow from the original games? UI also concerns me a bit. I enjoyed the older games relatively minimalistic approach, allowing you to soak in the world. One of my gripes in gaming is enemy health bars /stats floating above the enemy. If this is also an indication that the combat is similar to the RPGs then consider me out. Hope I'm wrong about all this though!

I’m sure there are people who want this, but I’m not certain I’m stoked to go back to a mode of gameplay that the AC series evolved away from. I’ll reserve judgment until release but I think my days of wanting to play old school Assassin’s Creed are probably over.
