Combat is fun and challenging and the combat system with elemental effects and weaknesses and tear damage is strategic enough to be challenging without feeling gratuitously complicated

Also - recently played Ghost of Tsushima. It was clear there that the mongols were invading enemies to be killed. It’s not so clear to me yet why I would want to kill some peaceful robot horses. For loot, sure, but loot for what - better ways to kill harmless machines? So outside quests killing machines seems a bit gratuitous.

This game is very gorgeous so far. I'm surprised my 1070ti can keep a steady 72 fps all around on mostly high settings. I'm liking the gameplay, idea, and execution so far but I still don't feel like I've been given full control of the game at 3-4 hours in, if that makes sense. Dialogue is a bit silly sometimes …

I've tried this game two times now. The first time was back in 2017, I played it right after Zelda: BoW and I simply couldn't get into it. The gameplay felt restricting. I've tried this game two times now. The first time was back in 2017, I played it right after Zelda: BoW and I simply couldn't get into it. The gameplay felt restricting. I thought I was being unfair due to having just played Zelda so I shelved it. Now it's 2020 and there's nothing else to play so I started it from the beginning with an open mind. And well, it didn't do it for me. I think the story would be interesting if I delved deeper. I also like the combat against the machines. Even though the game is beautiful I feel it's also plain looking (Bloodborne was the last game I played so maybe my mind is still looking for details all around). This is also how I felt about AC: Odyssey. The melee combat is lacking, the quests are good but after RDR2, AC Origins/Odyssey, Witcher 3 and others, I just don't want to get on my horse to a way point anymore (I removed all the markers and this helped). I think if I were to summarize my feelings on this game is that it's a great generic game, but I'm looking for something a little more focused at this time.

This game blew the rest of the games out of the water! Definitely one of my favorites and it should have won GOTY even for just the idea alone!

Despite the weird facial expressions of the people lol (only LA Noire does it best), most of it was amazing.

Design The world is just beautiful - post apocalyptic feels nature + machines theme is perfect! Plus it has a night and day effect in which everything looks and feels so different.

I love Aloy's overall design. Finally a game with a female main character that's not sexualized :p The costumes are so creative, The side characters have interesting personalities. The story and plot is compelling as well.

Gameplay The controls are great. The fighting style - using bow and arrow, the trusty old hunting technique (which should have been just the usual feels) brought novelty styles and i didnt expect stalking and hunting machine animals could be this exciting. One of my favorite parts are climbing the giraffe robot. It's so exhilarating when you reach the top and it was something new!

One thing lacking is probably to have Breath of the Wild feature that can make me go everywhere, climb everywhere and use a paraglider to go down haha.

Got the Platinium today and did all the Frozen Wild Trophies. Simply a masterpiece of a game, nothing more to say.

Horizon Zero Dawn completely blew me away and quickly became my one of my favorite games of all time. The world is beautiful, the characters are realistic, combat can be complex and fun, and exploring the open world can be rewarding in itself. Just an absolutely amazing game.

Excellent game, would recommend. On the level of Breath of the Wild. If only climbing were easier and more widespread and melee were better. Long load times. Otherwise, I still gave it a 5/5.

The game is absolutely beautiful, exciting, and intoxicating. One of the best open world games I've ever played. I never got bored, was never sick of the gameplay, always had something else to do.

The side quests were just that. Proper quests, and not simply errands you're running for someone, where you fetch them an item or two.

But the best thing about this game is Aloy. A wonderful main character with heart and determination. Her comments about the world were what made me love the game so much.
