I love how with each collaboration between Capcom and Marvel, they get closer and closer to trusting each other to make something as wild and bold as Marvel vs. Capcom 2. At this point, Marvel is fine with allowing their characters to be used, but we still have some restraints, like no Iron Man, but Shuma-Gorath and Blackheart instead? Meanwhile, Capcom is still relegating this series to the best of their best (and Dan) with their Street Fighter characters, not yet opening this up to the bigger absurdities within the Capcom wheelhouse. But right before we get to Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is another great step towards that major title.
With each new Marvel/Capcom collaboration, I do feel the united playfulness to be stronger, as both brands are more open to playing in each other's worlds. Again, it's also great to see how well these Marvel and Street Fighter characters play off of each other, and how much fun they are to mix and match. There's an absurdity to all of this, and I can really feel both companies opening themselves up to accepting that and just having fun with their biggest characters.
Playing through these Marvel/Capcom games has been a fun learning experience about this series that I love so much, and this does feel like the last step before they're fully in with the potential of this series.
