I will admit, this game does a little bit more to make things a little different from the first two Zorks. No longer does one rely on a lantern as much (grue repellent, actually) and the figure is limited to a specific puzzle area. The areas also are now slightly shorter, relying less on very long journeys and focusing more on puzzle rooms.

And what puzzle rooms! Sliding stone walls so complex they needed to display a visual and a puzzle box that seems to defy description, requiring rotating and manipulating a strange contraption to get past. It's slightly more interesting, but fails to get past the design of Zork that makes knowing what to do and where to go quite the mystery. That said, not much different. Given these past couple of reviews, one could honestly wrap up all three games in a single review more effectively than repeating it for II and III. That said, the next two games add to the adventure but do nothing to make it less obtuse.
