Hilariously B-movie jank RE clone, but fun

Deadly Contagion is not a good game, but man I had fun. It’s a complete Resident Evil homage, mansion, lab, and all. You are sent to investigate an outbreak, slowly weaving your way through the mansion, solving puzzles and killing zombies.

It’s very buggy, janky, and probably has the funniest “The Room” type cutscenes I’ve ever seen. But despite its many flaws, I had a blast. The gameplay loop is solid, as slowly exploring the mansion, finding keys and codes, and managing your inventory is just as fun as ever.

If the team could fix the gameplay ruining bugs, get some solid playtesting in (I had wayyy too many inventory items even the stash box wouldn’t hold them) then they could make a great game. The gameplay skeleton is here, and it has so much b-movie charm too.

They’ve said it’s their first game, and it’s an ambitious one. It has modern graphics, it’s not a PSX nostalgia type game. They may have bit off more than they can chew, but I applaud the effort and would totally recommend it for other survival horror fanatics such as myself.
