Ended up picking up Witch Queen. I had previously griped over the price, but got a bonus from work and was missing my friends who played. It's....OK. I'm not really picking up what the game's putting down. I beat the campaign and did some extra stuff, too, but it all feels like separate ideas that they're forcing to work together. The Caital angle has nothing to do with the evidence board, which has nothing to do with Fynch, which has nothing to do with Mara Sov, which has nothing to do with the Witness, which has nothing to do with Scorn on the Throne World. Yet they're all united under a similar cause which regards Savathun, her being gifted the Light, and what she knows about the Traveler that we don't. And I get that...but still. None of it has yet to come together. And maybe I'm expecting too much. After all, Destiny drip-feeds its content out. So maybe this will all align in the months to come...but if I'm being honest I don't totally trust Bungie to do so. To wait months for some awesome revelation that might not come? I dunno, man. I dunno.

Also, killing Savathun (even though I'm not sold it was actually her) in the campaign was a little cheap, no?

To spend $80 on expansion/season pass or not. Normally I'd just buy it and play casually, but my finances have transformed. I really need to stop spending money on new methods of entertainment and milk the many, MANY ones I already have.

Trying this out for the second time now and it's changed dramatically since I sat played but holy crap it's been an awful first experience on PC via game pass.

The opening tutorial was fine but soon after I tried joining a friend and then the quest marker simply disappeared or told me it was not in the area with no suggestion of where to go next. Then the game wouldn't close or respond and neither would the game pass app.

Is this how the rest of the game plays out? If so I don't know if it's worth my time lmao

Currently enjoying Destiny 2 a lot. Trying to explore all the end-game and finish the new raid (Deep Stone Crypt) before Cyberpunk 2077 releases.

Me: "I like buying physical copies of games, because I can sell them and make back most of my money when I'm done playing them."

Bungie: I can't even give this game away...

So Google launched a new Chromecast, and it won't support Stadia at launch. The roadmap for Stadia on the new Chromecast is Q1-Q2 2021. That's an eternity it tech time.

Google also discontinued the Chromecast Ultra, the only Chromecast that does support Stadia.

Anyone who knows Google and their history with supporting apps and platforms should see this as a huge red flag. If, as a company, you want a service to succeed you don't kneecap that service by leaving it off your brand new device.

True, you can side load Stadia onto the new Chromecast, but it should be noted that when trying to entice customers to your platform you don't just want the handful that are comfortable manually installing the app, you want the people that will stumble upon the Stadia "channel" on your Chromecast and opt to try it out because the barrier to entry is low. Given the new Chromecast is built on the principle of aggregating and featuring content, even content you don't currently have access to, as a way to snare users into purchasing/subscribing to new services, you would think that if Google wants Stadia to succeed that they'd want to feature it in a similar fashion.

Anyone want to place a wager on a date during Q1 or Q2 2021 that Google announces Stadia's shutdown?

Ahhhhh. So a year later after my last round of playing this, I did another half-dozen play sessions (via GeForceNow). And I'm done again! I think it was the same mission ("Enemy of My Enemy") that drove me to quit last year, but I'd forgotten the name. Maybe I should try out the PvP stuff and forget the questing, because …

I tried playing this for the first time in 2020 and jeez I can't think of a less friendly starting experience. No "story" to catch you up on. No sense of what you're fighting for, or why. The game's fun enough to play, but I literally have no idea if I'm making progress short of trying to raise my "power" level. It's a testament to what a game like WoW has accomplished that you can join in 2020 and still get a relatively pure starter experience that actually introduces you to the world and the systems instead of giving you one gun and dropping you into map icon hell

I see a lot of negativity surrounding this game (Sub Reddits do tend to bring out the hardcore enthusiasts) but it is still just pure pleasure to gun down mindless enemies in a flurry of colours and sounds. There's something soothing and cathartic about it. We were about an hour and a half in just completing Adventures when he said, "Geez (sigh) I could spend all afternoon playing."

I think we're going to enjoy playing this one together.

So... I honestly don't wanna play this anymore. It was fun, but I already have Borderlands 2 filling my need for a multiplayer 'looter-shooter' and I already have a go-to 'game-as-a-service' in Monster Hunter World.

Bye Destiny 2. Thanks for... something, I guess

I haven't posted anything in nearly a month, and this game + the new Shadowkeep expansion is why. I'm usually not one for online multiplayer games... but man does this game envelop me every time I return to it.

Welp, that's that. I just rage-quit and uninstalled! Was on a quest, during an "escape the area while the horde attacks" part and there's a jumping puzzle to get out. I hate tricky jumping, especially in FPS games. After my third death and having to run back from the last save point every time, it was enough.

I feel good! Relieved. There's a quote I've been seeing a lot the past few years referring to situations of doubt. Where you're asking yourself if you want to do something or not. And the idea is, if you're not saying "Hell yeah!" to something, then the answer is "no."

Every day that I've been playing this, I'll finish a session and think, "was that fun?"

"Eh."

Yeah, so... no.
