Just got through another major bit of the game. I'm actually considering playing again after I finish this. Don't normally do that with games. This might be my GOTY.

So just hit 20 hours. Not a fan of what's happening in the story right now. But hey, things have changed so that's good... I guess..

Fire Emblem Three Houses Update #4:

Crap is starting to hit the fan, and certain things have happened that really puts everything into perspective lol. I just hope that the story doesn't become too one-sided, and that there is a strong rebuttal for the other end of the argument. Time for some spoiler tags.

Miklan from House Gautier, Sylvain's older brother stole a heroes' relic and tried to use its power even though he didn't possess a crest - because of this he turned into a monster. We eventually defeat him and return the heroes' relic back to the church, but Edelgard definitely had some words to share with me. She believes that crests, the church, goddesses, etc need to be fully removed from the world in order for it to be truly free. For it is crests that end up corrupting individuals, and are the root cause of many people's suffering. People blindly follow those with crests since they are considered to be a part of the select few who are chosen by the goddess herself.

Edelgard later explains that the reason all of her siblings are dead in her family is because her family did terrible experiments on them to try to infuse them with crests.... these experiments ended up killing them, but Edelgard was the only one to survive. This game has just gotten dark AF.... and I feel so sorry for her. I'm curious to see how will play out.

Halfway through my Blue Lions playthrough and without spoiling anything I gotta say; the game's approach to characters struggling with their darker side is far more nuanced and emotional than the "my homicidal tendencies are a quirky character trait" of the past.

Fire Emblem Three Houses is sooooooo addicting lol. I tell myself that I will only put one hour before bed.... and next thing you know, 3 hours have gone by lol xD. And the story continues to thicken...

So the guess was right, the attackers were never after Archbishop Rhea but instead after a tomb... and inside it was the Sword of the Creator which was once wielded by The King of Liberation - a legendary hero who had defeated the evil gods but later became corrupted and was killed by Seiros. And it looks like the Professor is able to wield the legendary blade. The intruders are defeated by the Professor and his new power, and were soon after sentenced to death by Archbishop Rhea - absolutely ruthless. It definitely seems like no one can oppose the Church of Seiros, and if you do, only death awaits. Some of the students were rattled. Now I'm curious for as to why the Professor can wield that blade and if these recent events spell trouble in the future. This seems like a power that the Church of Seiros would want to have under control.... I have a feeling I'm going to end up having to make a pretty big decision in regards to the church and their ideals at some point.

Beat down the other two houses in the mock battle. Had the students go through their very first real mission. And most importantly destroyed Lord Lonato for going against the church of Seiros. I know a lot of the students have mixed feelings about what happened...the church did technically kill his son for treason (at the same time, his son did defy the church)I feel like something bad is about to happen. Apparently a death threat has been placed on Archbishop Rhea... but I feel like there's more to it then that. Guess we'll see lol. All I know is that this game def. has some dark themes.

I refuse to let any of them randomly die in battle - every move will be heavily calculated... or either that or I will level grind them up to the point where they can just one shot everything xD. And trying to unlock all of the support ranks between each of the characters to get their relationship levels up.... it's addicting lol.

So, I had a character try to turn me on in the game and it consisted of her staring at me and sparkles flowed around her model. Yeah, don't think there is too much relationship stuff in this. Also, if there is I think it is probably in the second half of the game. But again, guess we will see.

Well post-timeskip and a huge revelation I can safely say that the writing in Three Houses is incredible. Without getting into spoilers when faced with a choice of choosing sides it wasn't a black and white binary that I could just do and shake off, but a difficult decision that I had to think through and weight the pros and cons. And either way there were losses and sacrifices that had to be made. This game is on route to be at least my second favorite Fire Emblem possibly my favorite. Also Petra is best girl.

Just finished the Empire route and the game is amazing. The Characters and Gameplay Loop is great it just gets a bit easy but i am excited for the higher difficulty when it gets out. Story could have been a bit better tho but i need to finish the other routes to decide on that.

wow this game is stupid good so far. Will this steal the number one fire emblem spot? Who knows! We shall see but it's looking very possible...as long as the characters can be properly fleshed out like in shadows of valentia.

Getting close to the timeskip (I think) on my Black Eagle playthrough, and am having a wonderful time. The full-voice acting and time management elements are perfect; and feel like a wonderful inclusion to the FE franchise. I really like almost all the characters (cough cough Hubert), and am having a real tough time deciding who is getting partnered up with who. If I had a complaint it would be some of the changes to how class skills and weapon advantage work, but they're very minor. If the game maintains the writing quality for the very crucial timeskip portion this will be strong competition for my favorite game in the series, and a strong for GOTY.
