Ramming a large galleon into a tiny enemy sloop, just to scare them and ask if we could pour vomit on them while they hold a sword just to get an achievement is one of the best experiences in Sea of Thieves xD

The closest I'll ever get to living out my pirate fantasies.

I LOVE Sea of Thieves. I love playing it by myself, I love playing it with friends! If you want a in-depth, well-rounded, complete Pirate Life experience, this game is IT. Want to look for treasure? I LOVE Sea of Thieves. I love playing it by myself, I love playing it with friends! If you want a in-depth, well-rounded, complete Pirate Life experience, this game is IT. Want to look for treasure? Its got it. Want to sword fight enemy pirates and skeletons? Its got that. Want to captain your own ship? Its got those. Want to get in fast-paced sea battles with other ships? You can do that! Want to sink enemy ships and plunder all their booty?! With enough skill, you can!!!

This game is so incredibly in-depth with all of the pirate things you can do and it is EASILY my go to when I'm feeling like sailing the seven seas.

I will say though, it can be pretty easy to get burnt out especially if you're playing by yourself, and you HAVE to expect to get your butt kicked a LOT. I have almost 50 hours and I still get my ass handed to me in most encounters hehe. And it can be kind of demotivating when you spend a few hours getting a lot of treasure just to get sunk by a better player, and get all of your stuff stolen. There ARE reasons to dislike this game, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars, and not 5. But I still enjoy this game a lot, and would recommend pirate enthusiasts to at least try it once. (If you don't want to buy it straightup you can always try it with the xbox game pass!)

I kind of like this game, I want to like it more, it seems like this is a game that I would really be into but everytime I have played it I can't help but feel bored. I think maybe it's because I am playing with buddies who have all played it a lot so I am kind of left standing around asking tons of questions, how do I do this how do I do that meanwhile they are already on the island and have killed all the skeletons and returned with the treasure before I have a chance to figure it out. This is going to be one of those games I think the more time I put into it the more fun I will have but for now it's middle of the road for me.

For me, this raises a really interesting conversation about games and their direction / vision. In this case, many fans believe that the game was always intended to be a PvP experience. However, passive gamers are a thing, large groups of people just enjoy playing games and experiencing worlds; what does this mean for those players?

I include myself amongst the passive bunch. I love Sea of Thieves world, the boat sailing, the customisation, the fishing, the exploration, making deliveries. In fact, I love pretty much everything but having my hard earned loot snatched away at the last second by people camping the delivery spot...

If games like GTA, which thrive off PvP interactions, can offer a passive mode toggle, then why can't Sea of Thieves?

Personally I think it's time we stop punishing and isolating passive players and allow them to be part of the experience!

I've tried to get into this game 3 separate times and I just struggle to get past playing for any longer than an hour or two. The game is plagued by unfair PVP encounters that result in hours of hard work going down the drain because some over levelled player has decided to go around destroying beginners. I'd like to say this is a rare occurrence but it has happened every single time I've booted the game without fail. For a fairly light and friendly looking game it's brutal for new players.

Really interesting concept for multi-player, but requires patience/dedicated friends. Lack of advancement is a poor oversight and the game install (~70GB) is ridiculous!

Pretty Much good game to be chill, lower the stress by sailing across the beautiful ocean, sailing to the beautiful islands and awesome PVE combats. but I swear, that chill won't be so long, when if other players attack and plunder all hard made loot. Of course It is very fun PVP, but there will be no fun when your ship sank with all your hours of hard made loot, with it. And one thing I learned so recently is to be careful when being alliance with other players, me and my friend alliance with random players to play a event and after the event is done they destroyed our ship and killed us!) lol xD

Anyway it is a very good game and really very fun when playing with friends :)

I don't recommend this to solo playing, It will always end up with your ship sunk to bottom of the deep sea when you met other players....)

I can see why Sea of Thieves wasn’t received well at launch. The progression system is simple. Most of the islands are relatively empty. There are no upgrades beyond purely cosmetic flairs. But this is why I like Sea of Thieves so much. It’s a very cozy, very pretty game of Playing Pirates with Your Friends. There’s no pressure to be min-maxing, or to get the best out of anything. It’s much more about feeling the dip and sway of your ship as it travels over choppy whitecaps. Watching a hazy sunset on a deserted cay while your friends sit around a campfire, singing sea shanties. Pure escapism. In 2021, it was a very welcome one.

Only one complaint.

I recently got sea of thieves and I've gotta say- I'm in love with the game. Obviously the graphics aren't trying to be the new best, but rather cartoon like and will stand the test of time. Everything in the game is just incredible, and I've found myself addicted to it. Though, there is one complaint that I have: PVP.

I've found that nearly every player you see- wether your lights are on or off, if you have a flag or not, or if you even did anything yet or not- chances are if you find a player they will attack you. Of course, this is what to expect when playing one of these games, and having it included adds to the fun of the game. However, I really hope that they add in a feature to disable pvp, or to host private servers. It is especially helpful when trying to teach someone how to play the game for the first time. Other then that, one of the best games I've ever played.

Ended the session by accidentally exploding my ship, haha.

Sea of Thieves seems completely dependent on the multiplayer, if they don’t give you hints for objectives and no one has their mic turned on, how do you figure out what the heck you are supposed to do?

In my opinion this is an excellent game if you log in with a few friends and "play pirates". Take a voyage or two, find some treasure, maybe a sunken ship and try to steal loot from other pirates. The pvp can be an absolute blast both when fighting and when trying to flee with your loot. Both require genuine skill and benefit from well thought out tactics. Losing your hard earned loot can be frustrating, but escaping with it while someone pursues you is very satisfying (as is successfully stealing it from others).

I can understand why many people are unhappy with the state of this game at launch, but for my friends and I it has been well worth the price of admission. We will definitely be putting many more hours into this game.

Pirates! Cool!

But then I played for two hours, mostly sailed around, doing nothing. Combat makes Elder Scrolls look like Dark Souls. They made being a pirate boring.

This game looks like a blast. Too band I don't currently have a PC that can support it or an Xbox One. Now there are two games I really want to pick up a new PC or Xbox One to play (this and Cuphead).
