A Visual Novel game for thos of you who don't like visual novels. Absolutely compelling story and characters, although I understand it may be quite disturbing and offensive for some.
My only real complain is that it lacks any kind of interaction, given there are only 2 moments in the whole "playthough" you'll actually make a decision.

The atmosphere of this visual novel is amazing. The music, mature art style and horror elements immediately made me think of Serial Experiments Lain. It has that same serious, down-tempo aura about it.

As a short game (8 to 12 hours) with very little actual gameplay, it is more of a kinetic visual novel than one were the player's actions can really branch off the story. As all I wanted going in was a good scare from the mind of Madoka's creator, I was not disappointed at all. Just don't go into it expecting to play anything. You can sit back and shiver in horror instead ;)
Since the story is short, characters and locations are kept to a minimum. Everything has a purpose in the story, even the very, very weird sex-scenes. And they are f""" disturbing.
However, as with any Lovecraftian-inspired horror, the worst part are the things lurking just outside of the player's reach, might it be visually of intellectually. I do not think we are meant to witness exactly what Saya is.
They are 3 endings. Each shine a little light on the whole mystery, giving bits of information. As for which one is canon, that's left to the player's interpretation.
This is solid material. I recommend any fan of horror and Urobuchi (Fate/Zero, Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass) to give it a try.
