The only setback - the game is not particularly long.

It's hard to do time travel right, making it complex enough to be interesting but without completely breaking causality between events. The Silent Age certainly doesn't make it too complex, and in fact doesn't make anything about itself too complex at all. The Silent Age certainly doesn't make it too complex, and in fact doesn't make anything about itself too complex at all. It's a very straight-forward adventure with straight-forward puzzles and a just-clever-enough story, It may err on the side of simplicity, but there's enough going on to keep it from getting boring.

The game looks about as clean and simple as it plays, with untextured shapes and bold colors painting the world in stark contrasts. The sound design is fine as well, but ironically is the only place the game doesn't go hard on the 70's themes as every other aspect will remind you constantly of lava lamps and the Cold War. What The Silent Age lacks in subtlety and depth it makes up for in playability and quality, so if you're here for a steady, entertaining tale you're sure to get it.

Technically shallow but worthwhile story

It's an all right point-and-click adventure game, telling a sci-fi story about a janitor from the 70's getting caught up in a time travel intrigue and about the fate of mankind. The puzzles aren't too hard to solve when you wander around in limited spaces, so its low challenge level may be a matter of preference.

Despite that, I find …

The puzzles aren't too hard to solve when you wander around in limited spaces, so its low challenge level may be a matter of preference.

Despite that, I find that mostly second half of the game makes running back and forth a chore when it comes to finding solutions. When it comes to skipping forward on dialogues, the design makes it sluggish. And I have to lower my speakers because there are no volume options available.

Overall that, The Silent Age is worth a check for its sale price, something that could appeal to fans of time travel themes with twists and a forgiving challenge level.

Charming

Fun little puzzle game with a main protagonist as beautifully out of place as it can get.

If you like point and click adventures this game will not disappoint. Nice presentation, interesting story line, and cool time travel mechanics which definitely add to the puzzles.

That said the game is a bit on the easy side. Since it's divided into chapters you'll never have too many items at the same time and you won't be carrying them …

That said the game is a bit on the easy side. Since it's divided into chapters you'll never have too many items at the same time and you won't be carrying them for too long either. In each part I only got semi-stuck once, both times because I just overlooked fairly obvious items. In my opinion some puzzles require a bit too much running back and forth though (chapter 10 for example) which does get a bit tedious.

All in all a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, definitely recommended.

Well polished bagatelle

This is a rather short game with stylish graphics and a fairly nice science fiction plot. The difficulty level is unfortunately as low as they come, with always just one obvious thing to do. This is a rather short game with stylish graphics and a fairly nice science fiction plot. The difficulty level is unfortunately as low as they come, with always just one obvious thing to do. I am not a proponent of extremely hard puzzles but need some kind of challenge to feel satisfied. The non-playable characters are on the thinnest side and do not seem alive at all. That creates a feeling of this being a solitary exploration game, even though there are several examples of interactions with other characters. In any case, I hope to see more adventure games from House on Fire in the near future.
