I have the strangest obsession with this game.

This game isn’t all that great to other people but I think it’s great. I’ve beaten it about 3 times and it’s probably due to me liking the avengers movies so much but there are other reasons to. 1) The character roster is great 2) It’s oddly charming 3) Story Kicks Ass 4) Funny and 5) Fun as hell gameplay

Horrid controls ruin a mediocre LEGO title

How can they ruin a follow-up title so badly?

Interactive objects react half the time with horrible hit-zones, badly depicted button actions (hold, press rapidly) and even wrong button prompts.

Interactive objects react half the time with horrible hit-zones, badly depicted button actions (hold, press rapidly) and even wrong button prompts.

Enemies swarm you so much you can barely take a breather and on top of that require way too many hits to get down. Some characters hit animations and combos take so long you finish the action in front of a newly spawned enemy that just slaps you in the face.

Cut scenes and interaction with audio cut from the movies feels out of place and recorded in a distracting hall-echo mode.

Parts of previous movies are badly slapped in an amateur way just to fill up the content, which is too short anyway.

Even the overworld map has been ruined. Car driving is impossible now with slow turning angle and bad responsiveness. The minimap is a mess of dots.

A total disappointment

OK so my daughter loved LEGO Marvel so much we immediately got LEGO avengers expecting more of the same fantastic-tude. Instead we got lame movie callbacks and uninteresting open world stuff. I'm sure this game isn't as bad as I'm rating it, but it really was a massive disappointment for us. Play Lego Marvel instead.

I just... I just love the LEGO games so much. And I love Marvel so much. And I love this game so much. A fun romp through Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron with flashes of events from Captain America: Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, the TV shows, and the comics, and some nods to the fans as well. Fewer crashes/freezes/game-breaking glitches than any of the previous LEGO games, too, so an extra plus there. Dear LEGO/Marvel, please keep taking my money.
