I didn't do a write up of this one when I did my nuzlocke this year, but it is really sad to return to a game you loved as a kid and see how much it doesn't hold up. Basically a step down from the gen before it in almost every way, save for visuals. Weakest story in the pre gen 8 games, worst half baked side content, a region that while being the coolest design-wise, offers only 1 optional route when exploring during the main story, and even forces you to backtrack routes you've already been to, when there are adjacent routes you haven't been to yet.

Shout outs to the designs introduced in this one, the geography for the region, and the great soundfont/soundtrack. Its still a fun experience with its fair bit of challenges, but they really dropped the ball on the actual exploration, story, and virtually all of its side content. I probably won't write a full review for this, these are just throwaway thoughts on a game that is such a side-grade when it comes to the gen that came before it. I'll have to replay gen 5 sometime, as I remember that gen being the last pokemon game I loved.

I've been going through all my old Pokemon games and recording the playtimes. So far the longest is Platinum at 257 hours.

And, i`m dead again. The first gym leader kicked my ass and used it to clean the blood of my pokémon from the floor.
