That minimalist style, however, makes the game's environments feel samey and nondescript in a way that is sort of bothering me. I don't get a sense of place or physical progression, it just feels like I am pulled from screen to screen until something happens. I hear later on the world gets more complicated, and I'm not sure how I feel about having to wander around this empty-feeling void with even less direction of where I'm going. This combined with the vague narrative makes this a tough sell for me, and I found myself tiring of it quickly despite enjoying battling new enemy types when they appear. Granted, I only played through a few distinct sections so far, but it was not the most inviting introduction. I imagine this alienating feeling was intentional, and expect many players will be captivated rather than pushed away by it. Worth a try for the combat and other positive things this game has to offer. I'll see if I want to continue later.
