Stellaris is a real-time 4X grand strategy game set in a procedurally generated galaxy. Players control an interstellar civilization, exploring star systems connected by hyperlane networks, colonizing habitable worlds, and managing their empire's economy across resources like energy, minerals, and alloys. The game emphasizes empire customization through species traits, ethics, government types, and civics that shape both aesthetics and mechanics. Gameplay progresses through diplomacy, trade, and warfare with other civilizations, while mid-game and late-game galactic crises introduce escalating threats such as extragalactic invasions or hostile artificial intelligence awakenings. Players can pursue ascension paths including genetic engineering, cybernetic augmentation, or psionic abilities. Originally released for PC, the game later received a console edition and has been supported with numerous expansions adding megastructures, new empire types, espionage mechanics, and additional crisis scenarios. Currently, I have an obsession with board games. The biggest and baddest that require ample time and local friends adjoined in hopeless nerdom. I have neither.

I might as well play Stellaris instead of ache for Eclipse or Twilight Imperium. Except after 300+ hours, I can't bring myself to do so.

Having a blast with this game even though it was just the base game. 60 hrs in and I still haven't finished my first game with United Earth on a Medium galaxy (which is pretty large). Having a blast with this game even though it was just the base game. 60 hrs in and I still haven't finished my first game with United Earth on a Medium galaxy (which is pretty large). Takes long because I'm watching and reading guides and learning every system in the game but it has all been very enjoyable. But should be wrapping up now soon.

Yesterday I bought ALL major expansions and DLCs for it at a discount so can't wait to start a new game with all that.

I listen to the Stellaris soundtrack often. It’s great. But I don’t play Stellaris! What are some game soundtracks you listen to for games you’ve never played?

I'm sandwiched between two xenophobic, despotic empires that both have overwhelming fleets and declared war on me. I have every resource in the negative. I suck at this, but darn if I'm not having fun doing it.

Got the Mass Effect mods to work. Even added in some more Mass Effect races even though I had to use Stellaris aliens to represent them. Been playing for another 9 hours approximately, and am further progressed in the game than my first try, but so far I only met the Vorcha Clans (not the best neighbours by the way). I really don't know why that is, because I made it have one more empires than recommended for the map size. I'll just have to hope the Asari, Turians, Quarians, Salarians, Krogans, Hanar and Batarians are hiding somewhere in the galaxy and that it is not a bug. I really do love the game, but I wish I would meet the other aliens soon, because it feel a lot like just balancing things back and forth right now. Though actually building my fleet might not be such a bad idea... though I still don't really get the ship design part of the game (which was the thing I totally missed where a part of the game on my first try).

After a few (9) hours of trying this game out I have to say I really like it! I did really poorly, and I'm sure I missed some part that is really important to the game (it is a paradox game after all), but even though I was the worst independent galactic empire among all I encountered I did not die or get overwhelmed. It did live up to my expectation of being a space version of Civilization. Just what I wanted! Sadly I didn't get the Mass Effect mod to work, but I'll try again next time. Any recommendations on the abundance of Mass Effect mods to Stellaris is appreciated! :D

Enough of Ashes of the Singularity. Somehow besides its scale there is nothing new in there and it doesn't look very polished. So I'm back to Stellaris after over a year and I am having a blast!

Has anyone bought Stellaris or is anyone considering it? I'm tempted to have a go at this game. I've always been intrigued by 4X space strategy games but I'm horrible at anything strategy-related. Has anyone bought Stellaris or is anyone considering it? I'm tempted to have a go at this game. I've always been intrigued by 4X space strategy games but I'm horrible at anything strategy-related. I never got deep into Master of Orion because the turn-based aspect made the game a bit too weird and slow. Stellaris is all real time. Also all the combat is automated I think, and that's awesome. It's generally the complicated combat sections which scare me away from these types of games. I mastered Dwarf Fortress, it's probably the only strategy game I've ever played so surely I have the mental capacity to play this one.
