I was honestly expecting to drop it outright after the first hour, but thankfully it actually started to show its cards before the refund period ended. It’s not exactly what I’d say is a good hack and slash, but it’s a competent one insofar. It has solid charm to its banter between War and Strife, strong fundamentals in terms of strafing around enemies and dashing between danger zones, and some neat setpieces.

It’s far from cohesive though, the aesthetic isn’t very good to me, and the visual information in general is kind of a mess. It’s got really solid enemies (my favorite so far is a mage that can deck half your health on Hard, which you really should play on) and fantastic animations, but it isn’t particularly deep.

Good enough at a bargain I’d say, but I’m putting this one on ice for a while. It’s alright

Played around the first 2-3 hours of the game, which basically gets you through the tutorial. As a prequel it is not necessary for you to have played any of the other games in the series. So if you like Diablo style games and have an interest in the source material(Darksiders Series). Give it a shot. It's not as deep as Diablo even a game like Chaosbane. But so far it's been pretty good and for the price(39.99). It's not too bad. I actually got it much cheaper and would probably suggest you wait for a sale. But I would say the same about most games. So I'm going to keep playing when I get around to it. But it's on my backlog for right now.

This suck up on me. Will this be the third Darksiders game that I don't enjoy? Or will the new isometric camera change things for me? Who knows!
