Cardinal Chains is a minimalist puzzle game centering on the concept of non-decreasing sequences. Each puzzle begins with a monochrome grid of numbers, plus a few colored cells marked with an X. Starting at these cells, you must link up numbers in non-decreasing order until the whole grid is filled with color.

Minimalistic puzzle games are kinda my jam. I like this one, but I feel like it's just a touch too minimalist. The gist of it is that you need to fill up squares with numbers in them by making chains which can only increase in value - that is, you can go from 1 to 2, but not back from 2 to 1.

Where it falls short for me is the lack of anything to help you with the process of elimination, like some kind of notes tool to mark lines you know you've ruled out. As the puzzles get bigger and more complex, it gets kind of difficult to hold the whole thing in your head, and I like when a puzzle game allows you to work backwards or rule out certain possibilities, which this doesn't do.
