Godzilla: Battle Legends (simply referred to as "Godzilla" in North America) is a fighting game based on the Godzilla film franchise, made for the Turbo Duo in 1993, developed by Alfa System and published in the United States by Hudson Soft. When Godzilla fights a certain foe, his appearance changes to reflect the era when he battled in certain films. For example, Godzilla looks like as he did in 1955 when he fights Anguirus, and as in 1964 when he fights Rodan. This game's sequel, Godzilla: Monster War for the SNES, features fewer monsters, with the inclusion of Biollante as a playable character and Mothra. In single player mode, only Godzilla is playable. This is a versus Fighting game. It's not too complicated and there are special moves (you'll have to learn at least a few of them) which are pretty easy to execute (at least for Godzilla, which you are railroaded to play for the single player game) enter image description here The game has an interesting structure: there are five fights you have before the boss battle.. you have the option of picking between two different opponents for each of your fights, and the final boss you unlock is based on your score (6 are possible so its six possible final fight 'endings') The game also has a second player versus battle mode. the characters you can pick from are initially only Godzilla and Rodan but as you replay the game and beat each of the monsters in the single player game you unlock them all (kinda cool idea)

The game looks ok and sounds kinda good (cause its CD music) but the levels of the fights themselves work ok (but it feels like a missed opportunity for actual city-scapes to romp about and kaiju-properly in?)

i've played some quirky and lame fighting/brawler games on TGCD, but this isnt bad. Just make sure to look up the moves list on gamefaqs and you'll be golden
