I brought my "Switch" (along with my Switch) to the gaming club today with TOTK on the big TV. Everyone lost their mind over the fuse mechanic.

There are 2 things that get people excited: A balloon on a boomerang, or as I like to call it, Balloomerang, and a bomb on a sword

Looks like the game leaked. I'm pretty spoiler-tolerant, but now I'm definitely going on media blackout and hiding in a corner until the 12th.

Ok now, whether or not a person is into spoiling a bit of an upcoming game for yourself, the third TotK trailer just dropped. My takeaways?

  • The trailer music is fantastic and the riffs on classic Zelda tunes really choked me up. Damn you nostalgia.
  • I feel almost overwhelmed with the amount they appear to have stuffed into this game. I hope that feelign doesn't carry through to the gameplay.
  • I sure do hope Zelda isn't trapped somewhere waiting to be saved again. I know it doesn't seem like she's playable (sadly) but I hope she still has agency within the story.
  • I highly recommend the Japanese trailer, because the English one remind me why I don't play the game wi9th English VO:

There is a convo about durability exploits happening elsewhere on this site, but I wanted to ask if anyone else thinks fusing in TotK will reset weapon durability. Aonuma showed a basically busted stick getting fused with a boulder, and it seemed good to go for awhile. I could be wrong but if that's the case, this is a good …

Aonuma showed a basically busted stick getting fused with a boulder, and it seemed good to go for awhile. I could be wrong but if that's the case, this is a good workaround for those who hated the durability stuff in BotW.

So one of the other sites I visit is Nintendo Life. It's a great spot to hear the latest news on Nintendo, but one of the things I hate about that site is the fact that you CANNOT think anything bad about anything Nintendo.

An example of this is Tears of the Kingdom. Yesterday, a video showcasing about 10 minutes of gameplay premiered. For many this was awesome and got them excited for the game. For others, it was a turnoff. For me, someone who hates crafting, tired of open worlds and has no tolerance for the "weapons breaking" mechanism (I will find a walkthrough if I pick up the game and find the sword that doesn't break as early as possible), I was "meh." I love Breath of the Wild, but I don't know, I'm not that excited about this one.

But wow, if ANYONE had a negative opinion about the game, the Nintendo Life commenters attacked. I mean, just ripped people. Uncalled for and ridiculous.

I love video games, but they are just video games in the end. A fun hobby, but there is more to life. If you are sitting at home ready to pounce on people because they don't worship Nintendo like you do, seek help.

Am I the only one disappointed in what they’ve shown of this game so far? When a new Zelda is coming I want to be able to expect an epic fantasy game with a new and exciting world to explore, varied dungeons and cool items. I loved botw, but this looks too similar. Are the most exciting new things about this game really vehicle building and combining sticks with rocks? I’d be surprised if I’m the only Zelda fan who doesn’t play Zelda to build things.

Grouvee UKian people, there is a new TotK bundle in the official Nintendo store. Physical + medal + notebook in any combination. I just preordered mine with 0 issues from the site to this has to be the time to do it.

So, from what I got in the direct, one of the main enemies should be the guy from age of calamity, right? A lot or purple energy stuff, that voice and whatnot. If so, I will have to play the expansion pass before may just to get the full story before it.

Planning on going on a (mainline) Zelda marathon before TotK releases. I've probably played half of them to some extend and only completed maybe about a third of them.

Thoughts on how to go about it? Focus on only console releases, 3D releases, or all? Play them in release order or timeline order? Only play the ones I haven't …

Thoughts on how to go about it? Focus on only console releases, 3D releases, or all? Play them in release order or timeline order? Only play the ones I haven't played/completed? Just replay BotW since I have limited gaming time and that would keep me occupied by the time TotK releases (I'm planning on getting a Switch OLED just for TotK so this might make sense to re-experience the beauty of BotW)?
