Who would have guessed that the least enjoyable part of this game would be controlling a mech? Honestly, the thing does a fifth of the damage Link can dish out and it is faster to hop off the mech and deal damage directly. Otherwise, battles with basic enemies like Silver Moblins was taking forever when controlling the mech. The boss battle is the most disappointing in the game, so far, with the battle with Master Kohga providing a much more enjoyable take on the same idea. And the resulting sage power is also easily the least interesting and its best use case is crossing the gloom, provided you’ve already exhausted every other better option available to Link.

I love this outfit. It’s not practical, because I don’t really want to make the game easier, but it looks cool and paired with a certain Yiga ability, looks even cooler.

I think I need to farm the Lynel Gauntlet. I used too many of my Lynel bows on King Gleeoks.

Thouroughly enjoyed the followup to the Yiga Clan storyline in BotW. One of my favourite things in the game thus far.

Ok, I enjoyed the Wind Temple but I’m not sure why I’ve seen so many claim that traditional Zelda temples have returned. I didn’t find the Wind Temple particularly elaborate. It took a swift 10-15 minutes to solve and other than the fact that you didn’t have to manipulate the position of the temple like you did with the Divine Beasts, you still had to unlock several key points to complete the temple and reach the boss. The boss was arguably more traditional in nature but I quite liked the corrupted sages in BotW and I think they required greater strategy than this fight. It was very spectacular but quite simple. So while I enjoyed the temple I don’t fully grasp why people perceive such a material difference between these temples and the Divine Beasts.

Also I totally thought I was going to get a little buddy to follow me around for the rest of the game and I’m sad he’s just a power. I know that’s no different from the reward in BotW but the companion mechanic was fun.

Exploration in this game is incredible and I do have to credit Nintendo with doing amazing stuff with the map. But I am disappointed that shrines in caves never/almost never have a puzzle. Most, if not all, are just a chest and Light of Blessing because the designers consider the cave to be a puzzle. I find that unfortunate because I see caves as an extension of exploration which is itself rewarding. Imagine if every shrine on a hill had no internal puzzle because the hill was a couple feet above sea level. It’s a very minor shame.

Am I the only one that gets shades of Death Stranding from Tears of the Kingdom? What I mean by that is that traversing the world is the challenge a lot of the time. Things like ferrying the little Korok guy with the backpack to his buddies feels like a Death Stranding delivery scenario.

Finished the final boss tonight. I had a great time with this game, felt ready to move on.

Only real nitpicks are there are some performance issues at parts and the story isn't bad, just not super my thing.

Besides that its a great game with a lot of really cool physics systems.

Credit where credit is due, I was exploring the depths and came across a structure in a lake. It turned out to be a colosseum. Naturally my curious ass wanted to investigate and I jumped down into the arena. Queue a five Lynel gauntlet through red, blue, white and then two silver Lynels (the latter of whom was in rock armor). It was intense because they inflict gloom, and I hadn't prepared any meals. But I made it through mostly untouched and picked up a sweet reward. So, the game can still surprise me.

Well over 100 hours now and I still haven't started the quest Regional Phenomena. It's impressive that there is that much to occupy a person before they even dig into the meat of the main narrative. But it's also reflective of the fact that TotK is a far grindier game than BotW. Just the sheer volume of items the Great Fairy wants in exchange for armour upgrades is a monumental grind, and there so much more to the game. There is a lot this game brings to the table that I love, but it does borrow ideas from other AAA open world games where BotW eschewed them, and it's leading me to complex feelings about TotK and the inevitable discourse "which game is better." I don't think I have a stance. They are both excellent in their own right, but if I were to say which game I will probably revisit more often in future, I'd likely say BotW.

I knew it. God damn, I was right. As soon as I saw the Light Dragon I called it, and damn if I wasn’t right.

According to my Switch, I've played this currently for "90 hours or more." I wonder if that includes the times that my console is in sleep mode but the game is in the background, or only when I'm actively playing it.

I beat the game and completed all 152 shrines. By the way, can there be an option to cover spoilers by not blurring? Much like how Discord covers with a solid color.
