This does really feel like the handheld version of the original. It's fun but often feels a bit claustrophobic. The dungeons are fun and the mechanics are nice. I often found battles dragged out and a bit too long. I didn't end up finishing the game since every dungeon felt like a repeat of the same thing, and I wasn't getting invested in the story.

Depends too much on retracing the original storyline with basically chibi versions of multiple characters. Also retcons an important aspect of Okami mythology due to being under different developers.
