Like other 4x games, the win screen is an underwhelming sudden halt compared to the scope and heated chase of one-more-turn. A nice touch when a win unlocks features towards your larger empire.

I enjoyed the hero and unit customization. The dungeon like hexes and the flavour they provide were a highlight. Still, its left me with a sense that my time could have been spent elsewhere.

The gameplay loop, while pointing to a grand symphony, feels to be a truncated, repeated chorus, in spite of its vast crunchable numbers.

The UI and square thumbnails are functional in clarity ( a must in 4x ) but still feel apart from the whole, as if noticing overly enthusiastic flutist toots.

I still like the beat, but I want to like it more.

Monday Multiplayer has switched gears.

Anno 1800 was engaging but managing anything more than 3 islands made conversation difficult.

Planetfall has much more considerate pace in a multiplayer setting but grinds to a halt for manual combat. It will be a must to get our heroes into respective fights for co-op battles, otherwise watching a friend play is disastrously boring. …

Planetfall has much more considerate pace in a multiplayer setting but grinds to a halt for manual combat. It will be a must to get our heroes into respective fights for co-op battles, otherwise watching a friend play is disastrously boring. This lurch made worse, having purchased the DLC. A blue whale sized buffet with a tablespoon to enjoy it.

A row of unemployment had me eventually playing this all day.

I miss it.

Its the most fun I've had while feeling guilty of having said fun. I do recall it being a concerning time sink though.
