Birth is a pleasantly creepy point-and-click puzzle game about living alone in a large city and constructing a creature to keep you company out of spare bones and organs you find lying around. Explore libraries, post offices, museums, cafes, and apartments that don't belong to you, solving observational puzzles hidden in personal belongings and scenery.

The art style is what drew me into this game first and foremost. It is whimsical and so unique, the design just blew me away. The music is nice and relaxing which really matches the tone and feeling you get from actually playing the game. I think the controls were really fantastically translated to a controller. A lot of times point and click puzzle-type games like this can be too finicky with controls but this one felt really good while playing. The puzzles were varied in both challenge and design so the gameplay always felt fresh and allowed you to have breaks between more puzzling moments. The message wasn't too heavy-handed while still being really effectively conveyed to the player and it had an overall warm and positive story to follow. I absolutely love games like this that are relaxing, beautiful, and unique and I highly recommend this one!

This was a pretty chill creepy-cute puzzle game. It is very short, less than 2 hours, which is the only downside. But then again, sometimes you have your fill of long games and want a nice short one. The hand drawn artstyle is very nice, and everything is made of bones and organs and stuff that should be gross, but instead it's real cute and relaxing. The puzzles are not too difficult and fun to discover the solutions.

I have not reviewed for a while, but I thought, hey let's have a look at grouvee again. I've played some games, let's write some words. This one I bought because it looked like an interesting puzzlegame, it was ok I guess.

Narrative

I think I am a lonely person who is trying to frankenstein a friend. Honestly not sure, cause the game is a bit odd and not quite clear with the intentions. But I am finding organs and bones all over town, so I think that's it.

Gameplay

You explore, sidescrolling-ly, a town. You can enter buildings and click stuff outside. Inside the buildings are little puzzles, and when you complete all puzzles of a building you will get a bone or an organ for your Frankstein's monster. The puzzles ranged from super easy to "wtf is going on". But mostly on the easy side of things.

Setting

You are in a small town consisting of a few screens of side scrolling. You can enter things like bakeries but also people's houses, and there is some outside things to explore as well. The art style is quite nice, I liked it. Music, not memorable. Style, meaning more the …

The art style is quite nice, I liked it. Music, not memorable. Style, meaning more the fact that all people are like bones, and seem to be deer skulls, was interesting.

Other

Very very short.

Conclusion

I think it only took me a bit over an hour to finish it. As said before the puzzles were mostly very easy. The setting with the weird bone people, while interesting, did not really do it for me. I thought the story would have been a bit more exciting as I expected with a style like this, but it was not really that involved. In the end I don't think I will give this more than 3 stars. Enjoyable, but not amazing. Get it on sale if you like puzzles, like I did.
