In the game, the player pilots a starship called the Final Star, while shooting various enemies and destroying enemy structures for points. Unlike later vertical scrolling shooters, like Toaplan's Twin Cobra, the Final Star had only two levels of weapon power, and no secondary weapons like missiles and/or bombs. Each stage in the game was named after a letter of the Greek alphabet. In certain versions of the game, there is an additional level called "Infinity" (represented by the infinity symbol) which occurs after Omega, after which the game repeats indefinitely.

starforce

Star Force by Tecmo is a borderline average vertical space shooter. You basically memorize enemy patterns and hope not to die. You only have three lives, as it is clearly designed to eat your change in the arcades. Enemy design is limited and there's no sound to get excited about. There is simply just better shooters out there than Star Force.

StarForce

Ok, I take back what I said about the music & sound.

There's a few really good tunes, especially during boss fights.

They just don't come around that often, if you know what I mean?

Star Force is insanely brutal. Has anyone here beat it without the pause strat?
