Epic Sucks but the Mechanics Hold Strong

This has been my go-to game for years so my rating is biased. Epic Games is trying to run this game into the ground at the moment, but my rating will stay for all the incredible times it has given me. While Psyonix could be doing more to build on to the game and add features that are obviously possible, Epic seems to be in control now and seems to have very little care for the game and the player-base.

The game that Psyonix created is still mightily impressive especially in terms of mechanics. It is one of the few games that feels similar to a real-life sport in terms of time in training and game relation to improvement, fixed rules and maps, and competitive nature. The physics-based mechanics are top-notch and it's so nice to see improvement over time through the grind and streaks. Luckily, I do have a duo I've been playing with for years that is close to me in ability because it is much more difficult to enjoy when playing with randoms or friends several ranks lower.

The game has a number of flaws, but the mechanics are stable and normally make this game a great experience when you reach a certain skill level. Not the best game there is, but it is my favorite and worth some effort for most gamers in my opinion. It really does just hit differently after 1000 hours or so lmao

battle bus simulator

i like this game it is fun but sometimes people can be really mean and also doing air tricks with ur car can be really hard.

i get to be the battle bus with a burger on top of it though so any and all complaints basically mean nothing

Not bad

It's pretty good. (3600 hours and counting.)

I'm adding filler text here because my review must be more than 10 words.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to revert the game to previous versions on a Switch? The updates have turned this into one of the most data expensive games in my library. I really don’t need the extra bells and whistles. The game was fine for me when it was just simple cars. I rarely play online anyway.

A good football simulator with cars.

It is simply a football game with cars, which despite being simple, can be very complex to master. The customization of the car is incredible. But the game is not perfect, you rarely get good items for your car for free, you only get item for designs, that you have to pay to build, and that’s kind of boring. You …

You are dependent on missions for a chance to get some good item, and fails, and this is often frustrating. Those are the points that irritate me in the game, but most of all, I recommend you to play.

There's Nothing Hiding Beneath the Surface

This game is exactly what it looks like. Car Soccer. If you play for a little while, it will no longer feel like you are trying to push a wagon the wrong way with tentacles with arms. I recommend playing up to the point where you are comfortable boosting into the air to get the ball (not flying). By this …

This game is exactly what it looks like. Car Soccer. If you play for a little while, it will no longer feel like you are trying to push a wagon the wrong way with tentacles with arms. I recommend playing up to the point where you are comfortable boosting into the air to get the ball (not flying). By this time I think you will either be hooked or know that you never want to come near the game again. I recommend playing on PC because I have noticed slight input lag when playing on the playstations 4 & 5. Never tried switch undocked so I cannot answer that. The quality of the game and quickness of the interface seems to have gone down slightly since being purchased by Epic and made F2P, but this could be my bias towards that company and nothing else.

I don't typically like games that are wholly centered around online multiplayer, especially those without any sense of progression. I always come back to Rocket League though, and even find playing against the AI fun in a pinch. It truly is my guilty pleasure.

Oh man, Rocket League is on sale right now. That looks like a good, solid time waster to distract me from all this misery lol

Really enjoy playing this game! It's casual enough to drop in and out of, and complex enough (with a practically unlimited learning curve) to keep me interested. Prefer to Fifa!

I'm Terrible and that's OK

I've sank countless hours in this both alone and with friends. It is the one sports game that I can actually enjoy because it actually has developers who care and are constantly improving the game.

Rocket League is easily accessible by players of all skill levels, and even though it can be a chore to rise through the ranked tiers, you are usually up against people with similar talents.

I would find this as an E-Sport that might actually catch the attention of people who don't play video games with how easy it is to follow.

I've never been so happy about being terrible at something!!

Played on PC, PS4

Rocket League (2015) reviewed by The Red Hot Chili Mage

Alright folks? I’m The Red Hot Chili Mage, or as some of you may know me, Reuben from Stuff and That, and I’m gonna wreck this joint. You may have guessed from my name that I’m a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan (kudos to those who have!), and it turns out I’m the youngest writer for this website.

My age may explain my obsessive gaming habits, as, for the last year, most of what I’ve played is Rocket League. Never since Gotcha Force have I been engulfed into a game, kicking and screaming, as I have with Psyonix’s car-football (or Soccar, if you like) simulator. It’s impressive that such a simple game could grip me so much.

However, there is a background here as for why I’ve become so addicted. 1. I love a good game of football (or soccer, sorry). 2. I love a good car. 3. I love a simple game that I can just turn on and play for any amount of time. 4. I love a quality game!

There are few things Rocket League sets out to do, but it gets it all about spot on. It carries over the original car-football formula of the 2008/09 PS3 game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars onto an eighth generation release, releasing on the PS4, PC and eventually the Xbox One. Psyonix used the Unreal Engine 3 for the game, which makes most of it play smooth and without frame-rate dips and the like, as every blade of grass and glint in your window is shown off with a colourful and detailed aesthetic – making this particular sports game a nice looking game indeed.
