This was a DS game I really wanted to love, but in the end I just find it kind of okay, and wished I were just playing regular 'ol Dig Dug instead. The concept of this is clever -- the top screen is reminiscent of the overhead on-land Dig Dug 2, while the bottom screen is side view underground classic Dig Dug gameplay. The goal is to dig under giant spikes to make them lower and crack lines above ground to make a portion of land sink into the ocean -- and hopefully have the giant monster prowling about above sink with it.

It's too much. There are like twenty different items you can use, the areas you dig in are filled with enemies, there are mini-games that you have to do that slow everything to a halt, and it's just a pain to work out where the giant spikes will crack lines above ground. I don't care for Dig Dug 2, and I don't care for this "get in, get out" style of Dig Dug 1.
