World of Warcraft: Legion ushers in an era of unprecedented conflict for the Alliance and the Horde as the Burning Legion’s crusade against creation enters a terrifying new stage. In this dire new chapter of the Warcraft saga, the demonic Burning Legion has returned, seeking to call forth their fallen leader—the dark titan Sargeras, Ravager of Worlds. As destruction rains across Azeroth, its heroes must seek salvation among the ruins of the Broken Isles, doomed center of ancient night elf civilization and birthplace of myths dating back to the world’s creation. In the face of hopeless odds, they must learn to master mighty Artifacts—legendary weapons that hold the potential to bring down the corrupted armies of the Legion—and strike an infernal pact with the dreaded Demon Hunters of the Illidari . . . accursed followers of the infamous Illidan the Betrayer. My real first time playing WoW was during this expansion. I decided to make a character from level 1 so that I could see what the entire game had to offer. Leveling was no challenge and seeing other players in the open world was rare, to the point where I actually fell asleep while playing out of sheer boredom. I stopped playing around level 62 but came back when the level revamp was released, so everything scaled with your level. However the lack of players once again led me to quitting the game once more.

I started playing WoW again since a little before the launch of Legion, and I've had a ton of fun. I really like world quests, legendaries, and the way artifact power works. I always feel like I'm getting stronger due to artifact weapon talents, even though I don't aim for the best gear since I can't commit to a raid schedule, or honestly, I just don't want to. I really love the PVP class template stat normalization as well, since it puts groups on a more equal playing field. I haven't enjoyed an expansion this much since Wrath of the Lich King.

As an old skool vanilla and TBC WoW player this has really peaked my interest. It seems to be getting a lot of positivity, e.g. "best expansion ever" etc. But I am worried that my interest stems from the nostalgia that I have for the game that was. It's 12 years down the line now, I'm 12 years older and a new generation of player seems to have taken roots within the game. When I used to play WoW, I really enjoyed the in-game social and community aspect of it, but I played nothing else. Giving up WoW helped me re-discover an entire world other games, so maybe I'll just remember the good old times for what they were, some of the best moments I've had gaming ever, and just keep it that way. :o)
