I really wanted to enjoy this after loving the first, but this sequel feels more frustrating than fun. Missions constantly push you to rush or get swarmed by enemy spawns and alarms. The pacing and tactical control just aren't there anymore.
Even better than the excellent first game with a satisfying variety of job skills and synergies, as well as personal abilities for the various crewmates. Extremely satisfying to set up the perfect turn and have a ricocheting Sniper shot nail someone in the head, or string together a combination of skills that allows you to kill 10 people spread out across the map in a single turn as a Reaper.
Sunk 40+ hours into this, and really tempted to play it again and chase those achievements/final levelups I didn't get.
Been a while since i played the first one but i feel like this is definitely an improvement (i liked the first one), at the very least i didnt get bored of it before the end. Felt like the perfect length :D
Very enjoyable followup to the first SteamWorld Heist while keeping what worked well and improving on certain things like character abilities and class levels.
If you're a completionist the game can get a little repetitive by the very very end (mostly when grinding for hats) but it took me around 40 hours to 100% the game and that's hardly how you're "suppose to" play video games lol.
Story writing was fairly surface level (no pun intended) but got the message across well and had some memorable characters and touches on concepts like legacy and living up to expectations. It could have been much more in depth (again...the puns) but it does what it needs to and lets you get back to the gameplay quick.
I'd happily take a SteamWorld Heist 3 one day.

I just realized this game is kinda like Worms, but with a fun single player campaign, character upgrades, story and loot.
I always liked the combat of Worms, but it was just about arena fights with no story or progression.
