Played this one to get footage for my next vid and I gotta say. As someone who never grew up in the 90's and was born in the 2000's, between Resident Evil (I started with 4 in 2020), this, and the main game I'm talking about for the video, I actually like tank controls. Game also holds up well.

Currently borrowing a friend's PS5, and between big games I've been dabbling in smaller ones, including curios of the Plus classics catalogue. And here I've stumbled upon a delightful gem of the PS1 called "Jumping Flash." It is apparently considered the first full-blown 3D platformer, but is played in 1st-person (what they perhaps would've called Doom-style at the time, but it reminds me more of the later infamously strange PS1 game "LSD" thanks to its surreal environments). The controls are very much of its time, but once you get used to them the game's surprisingly fun. Though you can shoot enemies, the primary focus is jumping around, which is pulled off in a bizarre manner: upon double-jumping, the view shifts to your feet and gives a target reticle to show where you'll land. It somehow works.

Anyways what's most important though is in Jumping Flash you play as a giant robot rabbit named Robbit. Just look at this hoppy fellow. My new favorite character.
