This is were we are kinda starting to see what Sierra will become, if only because it’s the beginning of the first series “born” from King’s Quest. And despite the technical limitations, it’s already quite good! It’s a crazy, extremely funny homage to all kinds of sci-fi stuff, with some fun experimentations like the split-screen narration and the arcade sequences. …

And despite the technical limitations, it’s already quite good! It’s a crazy, extremely funny homage to all kinds of sci-fi stuff, with some fun experimentations like the split-screen narration and the arcade sequences. It’s a simple game, but it’s really funny and it already shows a very defined personality.

Roger Wilco, to the resque but not really .......

The story centers around Roger Wilco, a (lazy) janitor who survives an attack on his ship because he was sleeping in a closet. When he comes out, all around him are dead and his adventure begins.

The story centers around Roger Wilco, a (lazy) janitor who survives an attack on his ship because he was sleeping in a closet. When he comes out, all around him are dead and his adventure begins.

Look: 7/10 Good for the time it was released. Color monitors were expansive back then so I first played it on a CGA screen (4 colors). When we got an EGA (full color) monitor I replayed it again, and again. A VGA remake was released in 1991 which had better graphics while the story remained unchanged.

Play: 8/10 Like all early Sierra games, moving characters was done with arrow keys and interaction had to be typed commands. You'll visit alien worlds, hostile spaceships and even a little visit to Kings Quest if you pushed button which said 'Do not push this button'.

Feel: 10/10 The Space Quest series is a parody on the all the famous Sci-Fi movies/shows of the 80s like Star Trek, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica etc. Nothing is too serious, there's a lot of humour in it. The 'quests' themselfs aren't that hard but I remember playing this as a kid, I found them quite hard. There even was a comic book included in the package back then, that made the whole thing come alive even more.

I mean, doesn't this look familar :)

Attachment: 9/10 I still am hooked to these games. I recently replayed the steam version and it was just as much fun as it was back then.
