Remaster of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Ch.2 Watanagashi-hen
4.29 average rating based on 99 ratings
Recently put my foot down and decided to finally get to reading some Ryukishi07 leading up to the new Silent Hill on the horizon, starting with Higurashi. I knew nothing of the series going into it; now working my way through chapter 2. It's been perfect to read during coffee breaks, the rhythm is excellent and I'm happy to be carried along by its ebb and flow.
This and Donkey Kong Bananza are currently cornering the market for me on having kid characters that are endearing and likeable and substantive... it's so easy for children to be depicted in games as a whiny nuisance with no nuance, and given this is a horror series (and a visual novel at, which can often be flat-out disgusting about their presentation of children) I was a bit concerned going in, but it manages its characterization well so far. Rika is my favourite, she's adorable!
