Everyone will be excited to know I discovered what might officially be the worst fishing mini-game of all time.

Finally bought Cult of the Lamb, I was waiting for a discount but I was so much in the mood for this game that I couldn't wait anymore. I'm stocked rn!

Some initial comments:

All the subsystems are very messy

Attacking and movement are not tight.

Maps are too noisy and difficult to keep track of enemies and bullets (foreground gets in the way, weird zooming)

Combat feels very bare bones

Presentation is super cute but underlying themes and gameplay is really dark

Base difficulty feels too easy

I thought it was funny when one of my followers disclosed that they've always wanted to try eating a bowl of poop and asked me not to judge them for their tastes.

I’ve played enough to know that I like it and that I want to play more. Torn between making the most out of this trial period or just waiting for when I purchase the game.

Playing this via the Game Trials and enjoying it. I like how it looks and the gamplay has been fun. Seems a bit laggy in the Switch though?

About 12 hours into Cult of the Lamb. Just a bit past the main game. Definitely not as "hardcore" of a roguelike as some(so far), but man does it have charm. Plus, the gameplay loop of managing your cult and then doing a run really does a nice job of keeping things fresh. I also really like that it has difficulty, knowing that there would be interest in the game from non-roguelike typical players. My girlfriend is far from a "hardcore gamer", but she has also been obsessed with this game. Highly recommended!

I usually gravitate to character with a lot of depth and background, who give me complicated feelings or just really sexy. But this year.... Just look at that thing! It's adorable! As I said on my list of favorite games of the year, I just can't resist the mix of cute and macabre and the compromises you need to make to be sure your cult is succesful and self-sustaining can be pretty harsh. Its also extremely powerful, shows a lot of agency at the end of the game and can marry whoever they want. What's not to love?

So, I told you mine. Who is you favorite video game character of the year?

Just ordered the physical edition on switch 😊. Seems like a must play for someone like me, with issues due to a religious background (that I have left far, far behind) and experience with a cult. The binding of Isaac was kind of therapeutic for me, being able to laugh at the absurdity it portrays, that I’ve been exposed to …

The binding of Isaac was kind of therapeutic for me, being able to laugh at the absurdity it portrays, that I’ve been exposed to in my youth. I hope this game provides the same experience.

I've been stuck for days on the third boss fight because the dungeon gives me slow weapons (hammers, axes) at the beginning every single time and the combat is so fast-paced and bullet-hell based that unless I am lucky and find another faster weapon, reaching the boss with a slow weapon makes the battle downright unwinnable. You can't have a boss that fires bullets everywhere like a freaking uzi while spawning at thousand enemies and intend me to use a weapon that needs you to stay still for two seconds.

To all the game developers out there: not every game needs to be a randomized roguelike. Be the change the world needs.

While I'm enjoying the game so far, my main complaint is that the cultists are just pieces of cardboard with names, there's no identity nor personality to them. If I'm on a dungeon and a message of "X died from old age!" pops up I'm like "...who? Oh, okay". There's no real incentive to like them, I would like it …

If I'm on a dungeon and a message of "X died from old age!" pops up I'm like "...who? Oh, okay". There's no real incentive to like them, I would like it more with some kind of personality system a la Animal Crossing so they all least feel alive.

But I can't go back into the dungeon until I do the ritual. The ritual that I need wood for.

So I spend way too much time grinding divine inspiration so I could unlock the building that gives you wood.

A building that requires wood to construct.

Yeaaaah, not the brightest of starts here.
