I don't want to sound too fromsoft-brained but god it was a mistake trying to play this after having beaten Elden Ring twice. The combat in this game feels so boring in comparison

Giving this another go before Ragnarok comes out but man am I remembering how backwards the controls feel. Maybe I just don't play enough games like this but X to dodge and O to interact/action does not compute in my brain (at least on a PlayStation). Finished it a couple of hours ago. I was going for all the achievements today but Niflheim is some of the most tedious, grindy and boring gameplay i've had to endure from any game, and that's coming from a dude that grinded 10 hours straight in Octopath Traveler preparing to defeat the true final boss. I guess i'll just do a run now and then until eventually it'll be done. I'm only doing this because i want to seize the oportunity since the achievements in this game are actually achievable and i like easy dopamine, not because the postgame is particularly fun.

I'll redact a full review later, but long story short: 12/10 epic world design and graphics ( except for Nifleheim, fuck Nifleheim) , 4/10 gameplay feels fresh outta the AAA factory INC., 6/10 story at it's best, but i did mostly like the ending. Overall definitively worth playing for the world alone, the rest is more than withstandable enough for it to not be an excuse.

I'm not one to play the latest AAA wonder as soon as it releases because of... reasons. So here i am playing god of war for the first time in 2022. I'm like 8 hours into the game and i have to say it sure is an experience worth playing, not because i think it's the greatest game of all time or anything near that, but because it's a really interesting specimen in the sense that it's a marvelously crafted world delivered through very safe but competently put together and polished gameplay, i can see how this combination landed it as one of the top scoring games of all time in reviews. I haven't played the previous games but i am familiar with them and i have to say this feels more like a spinoff than a reboot. There's a lot more to say but i'll save it for the full review once i've finished playing it. enter image description here

Just starting this. Definitely dig the cinematic style and tones they're going for, but I still can't get over how goofy Kratos looks in this setting. Can't quite put my finger on it, maybe his new beard or his old paint job?

And the fact they stuck him in Norse land because they ran out of Greek gods. I'm sure the reason for his move will be a plot point, but it's still slightly off to me.

I have always enjoyed this game! A hack n slash game as referred by others but its highly entertaining and fun to play. Kratos is a super-badass while Boy is adorable, and they make a great father/son duo. This game is also gorgeous & immersive with great VA!

God of War 2018 is a weird game to reflect on. In the first half of the game, i was really not that into it. The graphics were excellent and the world is astoundingly beautiful. So much detail on everything. It was a feast for the eyes but i never really liked the gameplay, especially the combat.

Thing is, i was a huge fan of Kratos in God of War 1-3 and it felt like i was getting ripped off by the Kratos of this game. He looks like him but it felt like it was just a clone since he did nothing that reminded me of the Kratos that i loved. It didnt help that he had an annoying son and that he just played the role of a typical stern father.

But.. in the middle part of the game, something happened that really brought up the old Kratos back for me. Not gonna spoil anything but its really at that point that i started to enjoy the game a lot. Now it really felt like this guy was Kratos and i am continuing his epic story from the first trilogy. Everything from that point till the end of the game was really fantastic and i enjoyed every minute of it. I only wished that i got that feeling from the start of the game rather than the middle. I probably would have enjoyed myself a lot more.

I really hoped the elevator fights were left to the times of Double Dragon and the likes. I was very close to quitting at the boat fight. ugh. Nevertheless, a joy to watch where the story goes, the locations are incredible.

Finishing the game makes you sad that the adventure has ended , but also amazed at the masterpiece you have played. This game gave me the same empty feeling that I had after finishing red dead redemption 2 . Truly a masterpiece!

The gameplay mechanics feels smooth and the animations are really well done.

I've played a looooong session of GOW after the PC announcement today. I'm far in at chapter 13 out of 17 and I do not like this game. Playing it is so blah to me. I'm so uninterested in the game's bloated systems and the game barely incentivizes me to use the different moves. I just use shock arrows, summon wolves, and keep pressing R1 + R2. It steamrolls thrpugh a lot of fights and the game doesn't punish me for using one tactic for 20 hours. So it feels so stale after a while. Why should I care to take as little damage as possible if I get healing stones after battle? Why would I be careful with my magic if it recharges on cooldown? Why would I change my stances if just pressing R1 and R2 is effctive enough? Why bother with anything else if this one tactic is so powerful? On top of it being drawn out and getting stale, the enemy variety and compositions are so uninteresting which adds on to said staleness. I never feel like "Oh, wow those guys really worked well with each other to catch me off guard." Puzzles feel so similar to one another that they all just blend in with them being "shoot your bow" or "throw your axe". I prepurchased the game on PC and I feel like cancelling that preorder now that I have kept playing it on PS Now with more impressions.

God of War is coming to PC on January 2022. I bought it so I could play it on 60 FPS instead of on PS Now. Bloodborne and Persona 5 Royal when? enter image description here
