Betrayal at Krondor: Midkemia – a realm of enchantment and ancient magic where elves, dwarves and man once battled an unimaginable evil across rifts in time and space. The legends tell of a boy named Pug who would become Master Magician. His friend, Tomas, would wield the unearthly armor of the Valheru and command the armies of Elvandar to fight the final titanic battle at Sethanon. In Betrayal at Krondor experience an all-new tale in the Riftwar legacy as you travel the world of Ramar.

Just played it through for the third time. It never gets old, all you need is a few years between to forget the plotline and the riddles and you can enjoy it all over again. The game mechanics of Betrayal at Krondor were so ahead of its time, it took until Skyrim to have something comparable. All the little details are thought through, the character development system, the story and the sidequests, the references to the Midkemia cosmos, the balance of magic and weapons.

Don't be fooled, this is a really difficult game to play - imagine Fallout in Survival mode: you have to take care of your equipment, of your food, of sleep, of wounds. Once a character is near death, it is really hard to get him back on his feet. Bookmark saving is an important part of the game, so you have to use it and think about everything you do if this is wise.

Sadly there won't be any remake due to weird rights issues - this game would be a bestseller if it was remade exactly as it is with state of the art software.

P.S.: If you play, always carry enough rope with you, …
