A great indie effort, at times annoying, but always deeply atmospheric

There’s a very cool, stylised Burtonesque vibe to this puzzle-platformer that makes it so appealing artistically. It looks and sounds haunting and hypnotising at every turn from start to finish, using its awesome environments to tell the story in exchange for an actual narrative. Even though there's a clear inspiration derived from the likes of Limbo and Inside, LN is its very own thing artistically, with a great use of light and shadows and an infusion of moments that make you feel like you're inside a Hansel and Gretel tale. The game can take some pretty dark turns at times, and it features one genuinely scary moment which, for someone quite used to horror titles, was a really nice surprise in a game of this nature. Even though it's on the short side, it's the type of game that sticks with you for a while after you played it just for the aesthetics and sound design alone. I also ended up enjoying most puzzles, though until you get the hang of the rules of engagement, they will likely feel more complex or harder to solve than they actually are.
The main issue with LN is on the mechanical side of things. Controls could be tighter and more intuitive, and even though there's a good feel to the physics in the game, the 3D nature of the environment can make movement quite frustrating. It is hard to gauge distance and space, and the game doesn't do anything to lock you in on the right path. Therein lies the rub: oftentimes, LN’s biggest challenge isn’t its puzzles or enemies, but how incompetent it is in providing a solid framework for having its side-scrolling camera to work well in a 3D space. Movement is way too finicky and awkward in some moments, leading to annoying and unnecessary deaths because it becomes hard to get your bearings. Along with a few instadeath segments, this was by far my biggest issue with the game. Fortunately, a lot of these problems were addressed in the sequel, but frustrations and all, I still think Little Nightmares is worth experiencing. It’s a commendable indie effort with an inspired atmosphere, let down by its technicalities, yes, but offering quite a bit in return. 7/10

I feel like this game might be a tad overhyped. I liked the story, visuals, puzzles, everything, but it was still just a few hours that I'm probably gonna forget soon.

10/10 Creepy. 3/10 Fun.
I played this game and just stopped playing after several rounds of frustration.
To start with, I will say that the game is beautiful...and creepy. The vibes it gives off plays really well from a child's nightmare perspective.

To start with, I will say that the game is beautiful...and creepy. The vibes it gives off plays really well from a child's nightmare perspective.
That said, it's just not fun. It's way to easy to get caught and the amount of things that you have to replay is just not respectful of the time of the player. Couple that with often times I would fail at something only partly because of my playing, but also because of the sluggish play control.
I appreciate what they were trying to do and I hope they move the needle on their sequel, but i just didn't enjoy the game that much.

Cuento de hadas de terror
Mezclando survival horror con plataformas este título me ha volado la cabeza durante su corta pero intensa duración. Un atmósfera como pocas he jugado, una historia cargada de simbolismos y varias lecturas, una tensión constante y una música maravillosa.
