My dad thought the taunt button was his special move button every single time, despite us telling him otherwise, so he did fine until he was all lit up in rainbow sparkles, then he'd just mash the taunt button repeatedly. Also, 'Simple and Clean' was fluke, translating Japanese themes into English is almost invariably crap. I hate the SSBU theme in English, and as an honorable mention, the Fire Emblem Fates song that Azura sings is so bad in English as well.

So, along with my new Switch, I splurged and got SSBU, and Breath of the Wild (which I've already played), Mario Odyssey, and Octopath Traveler are coming in today.

Man am I rusty at SSB. I have played every entry, but the last time I really got into it was Brawl, and the intervening time has not been kind to my skills. Especially given that I am struggling to adjust to the 'A', 'B', 'X', and 'Y' controls being more uniform with the JoyCon, rather than how the WiiMote and GameCube controllers were set up, which made it easier to mentally differentiate between 'Attack', 'Special', and 'Jump'. Now I keep mixing them up, and my muscle memory hasn't caught up yet.

I really like that Classic mode is more individualized, that caught me off guard and was a very welcome change. I like that the collectibles have gameplay value as well, so there's a bigger incentive to collect them and more gameplay in the whole experience.

Overall, Ultimate isn't a 'game changer', but it's definitely the 'Ultimate' iteration of SSB.

Received it as a Christmas gift and played it yesterday for a couple of hours. Seems a very fun game. I'll probably focus on this game as soon as persona 3 is finished.

Got a chance to play this last night and I have to say that coming from Smash 4 it feels and handles like a completely different game. Excited for Friday when I can play it.

I've never really enjoyed fighting games, and I've played maybe 5 hours of Smash total before this one. That being said, LOVING my time with this game. World of Light is exactly the casual and addicting single player thing I needed to get me to keep playing and get better.

I did, of course, download Smash and started playing some multiplayer. I'm going to hold off on doing the World of Light mode until after I beat DQ VIII (assuming that ever happens). Haven't tried online yet either, which I need to do!
