A High Octane and Fast Paced entry into the fighting game market

Pros

  • Battles are so much fun and almost never get boring
  • Characters are pretty well balanced
  • Story is quite good for a fighting game

Cons

  • Many characters are the same
  • It can be quite daunting for new players to grasp many parts of the game

This is the Dragon Ball game I dreamed about as a kid growing up in the 90's. Fantastic graphics that almost make you think you are watching the show, very fun combat that can be as deep or shallow as you want and is a blast to play. A unique, new storyline to play through.

The only knocks against this game in my mind are related to the single player experience - the battles against evil clones get repetitive and once you complete the story and a few challenges I didn't feel the desire to keep playing, or come back for the DLC characters.

Still, this is a fantastic Dragon Ball game, and a great fighting game in it's own right.

Brief Final Thoughts

WOW, right off the bat the combat is probably the most impressive i've ever experienced in a DBZ title, the fluidity during fights and the tag in element work wonderfully. With a number of game modes it's easy to get sucked in for hours and the eye catching visuals has me in awe of what I'm seeing. If it wasn't …

If it wasn't for the progressively tiresome story mode this would stand out as my favourite DBZ game, but the repetitive nature had me bored midway through the 2nd act. The plot was interesting though and Android 21 is a welcome addition to the roster.

I'm not very fond of fighting games but grew up watching DB and DBZ. Graphically, the game captures the look and feel of the show perfectly, but gameplay wise and story wise is a slog. Very repetitive and too easy.

Probably it's a good game for people who like multiplayer, but I'm not that.

I tried but I couldn't. I just can't enjoy this game. I love the characters, the animation is amazing, the fights are visually spectacular... but I just can't get into the gameplay. Every time I play this game, even the offline modes, I just can't stop thinking how much I want to play Street Fighter V instead :(

I know it's an amazing game, and it's a real shame it's not for me.
