Main game

A 12$ purchase similar in vein to it's older sibling "Battle for Bikini Bottom", but in it's core: it's not the same.
The game is linear than it's predecessor with more level style progression rather than Open-World type of way that was used in the last game, but the Huge open level design is kept untouched.
No sandy (obviously...) but you get more moves for Patrick, reworked moves for Spongebob, but now are hidden behind a very annoying progression wall, and an upgrade system for your average move set and health.
The fun big adventure factor you got in BFBB is missing to a point in "The Movie game". It feels the same but it is not, repeating the mistakes Crash Bandicoot Warped made including annoying gimmicky levels rather than excellent game design with more addition and the best.
Driving is going to happen a lot in this game, and it's not as fun as it sounds. You can barely control the Patty Wagon, the steering is awful especially on "slippery" roads.
Sliding is somehow made worse with less control over your movement in the air and constant "halt" of speed that will occur when you jump, and lets not …

Sliding is somehow made worse with less control over your movement in the air and constant "halt" of speed that will occur when you jump, and lets not forget dying multiple times with an annoying 5-10 seconds delay each time to go back and grab something in a different route because the Imagination box is not present in these levels.
Let's not forget Mindy not giving you the power ups needed for said levels because you didn't have enough Goofy Goober tokens and you had to grind on the Driving, and Sliding levels because you already did the platforming levels and got everything that doesn't require important power up which you'll go back for ANYWAY!
Somehow this game got me mad a lot for stupid design choices before I realized that this game was Rushed. Makes sense considering the Bosses are also worse than BFBB. (aside from Neptune)
I just wish we had some of those upgrade in BFBB somehow, then I don't think I would touch this game ever again.

My favorite Spongebob game out of the bunch.

❶ My favorite character is the DUO themselves~ Spongebob and Patrick made it quite a joy.
❷ MEMORY: A A CHILD WHO WATCHED THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE, WHO DIDN'T WANT TO ACTUALLY BE IN THOSE EVENTS! David Hasselhoff boss battle was something special and hilariously done.
❸ Gameplay: It was smooth enough for me, puzzle & platforming with our buddy Patrick along the ride, and the way the maps were done were pretty neat-o and clean. The bonus levels was quite solid. The running minigame to jump over those skeletons with their serious faces. The interface was clean and then the final battle with mashing the "A" button was exhilarating as a child.
