A modern-day Western epic, Red Dead Redemption takes John Marston, a relic from the fast-closing time of the gunslinger, through an open world filled with wildlife, mini-games, and shootouts. Marston sets out to hunt down his old gang mates for the government, who have taken away his family. Along his journey, he meets many characters emblematic of the Wild West, heroism, and the new civilization.

Okay, maybe it's not as great as I initially thought. There is a ton of jank, the game screws you up so many times on purpose, you're fighting with the controls so much, fast travel is limited, and the games loves to waste your time a lot by making you start a mission from one point at the end of the map and then proceed to the other side of the map. I'm getting extremely frustrated the more I play. I will finish it for the story. and I'm only still at the Nuevo Paraíso part. enter image description here

10 лет назад поставил бы 4 или 5. Сейчас игра явно устарела. Все таки всему свое время. Дополнение решил не проходить, хотя выглядело интересно.

The "Liar's Dice" gambling minigame is actually a lot of fun and a really well-designed game! One of the best I've ever seen (Mahjong in Yakuza 0 is king though) I hadn't looked into seeing if this was real but it works surprisingly well in the game. I'm unsure of how good of a game this would be with real human opponents, however. (The AI is pretty predictable and usually fairly consistent with their strategies so it's easy to exploit... I played at least ten games and hadn't lost yet)

oof this is on Steam for pre-order at 40 pound-erinos / 50 buck-erinos. Not sure I'll be paying that when I already have a physical copy of the game of the year edition (RDR1 + Undead Nightmare) on PS3. I won't even be taking advantage of the 4k and ultra wide with my old monitors. Doesn't look like multiplayer is …

It's really cool that Red Dead Redemption 1 is finally coming to PC. This will finally give me the urge to play it, but there is one thing that really perplexes me: the system requirements. How do you need an RTX 2070 for a game from 2010?enter image description here

Let's compare this to GTA V's requirements. Looking at benchmarks, the GTX 660 runs well at around 80 FPS on medium settings. enter image description here Let's also look at Red Dead Redemption 2. The 1060 6GB can run at 1080p 30 FPS on ultra settings. Bit below 60 on lower settings. enter image description here I'm not complaining that I can't run it because I can. It's just that these specs just don't make any sense. The standard for spec requirements is usually 1080p.

i just picked up rdr on switch and was struck by how much the "lone cowboy" framing, marston's separation from his family and his mandate from the pinkertons to take in bill allows rdr to really just play with basically every western trope in a way that makes the game seem more lightweight. What's the driving force in the first thirty minutes? establishing your cred, on your own terms, so that you can take bill in. everything you do is in service of establishing yourself within the confines of the game's mechanics so that you become the person that approached fort mercer by the time you get to that mission later on.

it's a nice twist because you sort of understand where you're supposed to end up but you don't know how you get there and if you're in the mood for some pretty straightforward missions, you eventually roleplay renegade long enough to know what you'd need to do to have accomplished the first cutscene successfuly.

my main takeaway here is how light this game feels. it's very open, has just a handful of missions and mechanics in the beginning, and doesn't feel burdened down by much. it's clear what's going on, it's clear what you're supposed to be doing. after twenty minutes or so you can already roam across the area and take in the sights and run into random challenge npcs. it's more arcade-ey and more role-play heavy in that sense, and less like an interactive fiction setpiece.

Juego muy bueno pero falla en mecánicas como misiones aburridas de tener que llevar ganado a un lugar pero de ahí en fuera muy buen juego con muy buena historia

The characters he negotiate with barely keep their word agian and agian - making John look naive. How he in Mexico for example can help the rebels in one main mission and in the next slaughter them and their homes is beyond me. I'll keep playing and see if the story can justify everything he's doing to get to Bill. Game has good mechanics for its age and I have no problem playing it on the PS3, runs well. Red Dead 2 I'd recommend but this one, I don't know just yet.
