Play as Challenger, a brave archeologist whose mission is to rescue a princess who's been kidnapped by a secret evil organization. The game offers four different types of adventures in four different ways to play, starting with a runaway train battle, exploring a vast island, and facing off against a boss. Originally planned as a port of the ZX Spectrum video game Stop the Express, which was released by Sinclair Research Ltd in 1983. Stop the Express only contained the first train level, and 3 levels were added for the release of Challenger.

Lol imagine my surprise when I get to the final enemy of the first stage and he's invincible and I'm pushed off the train and think I died. I almost rage quit till I realized that was me beating the first level :-p

I love how NES games normalize a pervasive Pause

Cool top-down adventure segment in Stage 2 really feels like it was already conscious of [later] action-adventures that looked like that, some really good jingles, and all around solid game. I think this could be really fun to speedrun if I had the time to learn its quirks and didn't have a 5000 game backlog to get through lol. As it is though, the lack of diagonal movement during the top-down part and general "minigame" vibe it had led me to drop it before finishing Stage 2 (though I did 2 of the "Stage 3" caves, which by the way the Jump mechanic isn't the best and pro-tip, you can't jump to the geyser platforms when they're too far below you even if you would have landed on them you do the fall death animation... we all know how much I love too-far-of-a-cleared-jump mechanics in platformers.....)
